The victim in Conors rape case being investigated was brutalized, Conor later said it was consensual

Some people are saying that even if conor were officially charged we wouldn't know because in Ireland media can't talk about rape cases until the conviction.
Do we have anyone from Ireland who can comment on this? Is this true?

How I read it was that once she's pressed charges personally she can't then back track and take a pay off. However if she's gone into the station to present herself as a rape victim and Conor is one of 2/3 people maybe involved, they most likely took her for tests which they did to prove she has been raped whilst bringing the supposed culprits in for questioning. She has maybe proved she's been raped (has this been announced) so wouldn't be a liar and suffer any charges herself for backing out at this stage, and this is also the period where she can be paid off so to speak.
How would she be paid off? A Sweden Democratic politician is under investigation in Sweden for sexual assault right now. The woman didn't file charges. In fact, she insists this has been put to rest between the person assaulting her and herself. I'm not a legal expert. But it seems that the law in Europe (I'm generalizing) is indifferent to whether the victim presses charges or not. Crime doesn't stop being a crime because of what happens after the event of the crime. It's one of the things that make the American right call Europe socialist. Everything (more or less) is about money in the USA. A company sells a product that kills a bunch of people. A monetary settlement takes care of that. The crime is paid off. Not as easy in Europe.

This is why I oppose the transatlantic trade agreement. One of the provisions is that corporations can sue states/nations if their laws gets in the way of a corporation to make money. I don't know how far this could go, but GM, for example, could sue a country for deciding to ban all cars that aren't run on electricity. The country could still enact the law, but they will have to compensate GM for their lost sales. I think Europe will go there eventually, and basically become a playground for American companies. After all, the USA devastated Iraq for oil and wants to do the same with Venezuela. Nobody stands in the way of the USA and its money. And, sadly, I think there are enough Europeans willing to sell out Europe for that American greenback. Iraq has already proven that there are.

It's past that point already. The girl DID get raped. She was smashed pretty badly, this is confirmed at this point. What's left is to root for is the scenario where whoever did that gets put in a cell and the key thrown away.
Her being smashed doesn't necessarily mean the claim was factual

There's more than a few conniving women out there willing to give themselves a beating for a big payday. A black eye and some cuts for a few easy million? Not a bad deal

Not saying Conor didn't do it, but these days in cases involving very wealthy celebrities.. Gotta be very careful with instantly Assuming guilt

Among that class, the likelihood that they're setups is very high.. Perhaps even more so than genuine sexual assault.

Sad but true unfortunately and this woman cry wolf shit takes the light off genuine cases of women being abused

This is Ireland. Not the USA. There's little money in being raped in Ireland.

I get that you're an angry, frustrated incel who think women are whores because they won't have sex with you. Your post tells us why they don't.

Correct. The accused can only be publicly named AFTER they're convicted.

Though, when he's charged it'll likely be impossible to keep it secret once a trial starts (McGregor going into/out of court, meeting frequently with his attorneys, etc. He's just to recognizable of a figure for people to not notice some of these things and for it to get around).

"In rape cases, accused people have the right to keep their name private unless they are found guilty. This means that nothing can be said to identify the accused before the verdict. It is not possible to reveal the identity of an accused person who is found not guilty.

If the accused is found guilty, some victims may want the name of the accused to be made public. Often, however, if the guilty person is named, the identity of the victim will become known. Despite this, some victims decide that they want the guilty person to be named. If you want this to happen, you should tell the prosecution solicitor.

If you are a victim, you should think carefully about what the naming of the guilty party will mean for you, before you decide what to do. It may be a good idea to get your own legal advice about this.

So no news ever comes out about crimes committed until AFTER the trial? Sounds really stupid.

The post you quote starts with "The accused can only be publicly named AFTER they're convicted."

It's the name, not the crime.

if they were looking up to him after his racist and xenophobic comments, they are idiots and/or assholes and I do not feel sorry for them at all
even if this was to be proven true (which is not the case as of today) and he was sentenced they would put the blame on the women and portray him as the victim, you know like in sects

You think kids are paying as much attention to him like sherdog does ? The *kids* probably have seen him fight and the UFC promo bits. Good Lord it's still * Irish sportsman * and you don't feel sorry for them at all? You think they are assholes ? I think you are a asshole.

Sigh smh

I hope she had someone else beat her up a bit to fake it.

And I hope that person was right handed. If the bruises on her are consistent with a right hand dominant person, then Conor is innocent.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. That proves nothing. People are really stretching to call him 'innocent'

Just throw the silly bitch in jail for false accusations and be done with it

That is way better than the system in America where the person getting accused of the crime is immediately put on blast and presumed to be guilty as soon as the media gets ahold of it.

Why do you need to know everything right now anyway. So you can jump to conclusions without having all the facts?

The privacy/no naming aspect is pretty unique to Ireland, and (IINM) it only applies to sexual assault cases. Murder, child abuse (non-sexual), drugs, etc. do not have the same privacy/protection rules and the accused can be publicly named from day one. It's only sexual crimes where the accused is not named, and it's done for a number of reasons.

This makes more sense. Otherwise it's like wtf are people reporting on.

You clearly didn't understand my post. Try again.

It'd be like living in a world where nobody knew R. Kelly or Harvey Weinstein are scumbags.

Nope it would be more like both of them would have been convicted of crimes rather than having the money to just pay everyone off and walk free.

Two guys I disliked for their personalities instead of their fighting have proven to be some of the most reprehensible pieces of garbage in this sport: Conor and Jones. I feel sad for their victims but I do enjoy seeing them fuck up over and over and over again.
