Rumored The UFC Twitter account sends out DMs stating Mcgregor vs Poirier 2 is now for the title!

I thought everyone assumed this was gonna happen if Khabib vacated
Why is everyone acting upset?

What's the betting that Herb Dean refs this fight.

As so frequent with McGregor fights. Red flag if it's Herb Dean AGAIN....
because herb is on the take?

not sure why they let big john ref the aldo, diaz 2, alvarez fights.....

I actually looked up (maybe 6months or a year ago) of all McGregor fights, who the ref has been and it's absolutely notable how often Herb Dean has reffed McGregor fights. And, given how often Dean allowed McGregor to cheat in the Khabib fight (someone else tallied up the infractions and it was 13 to 15 of them) then I'd say YES Herb Dean is not playing this straight. Not saying he's paid but he KNOWS who the UFC would ideally like to win and if he can ....ahh....assist then I think he does it.
There's been multiple circumstantial evidence of that, and this is just my opinion, others no doubt will have other views on this, and of course that's fine.

What is his motivation?

and again, big John reffed 3 of his biggest fights. If the ufc was trying to influence refs we’d have heard about it from him by now.

Put Conor on the GSP clause, if he doesn't agree to fight again in 30 days .... wait. Wasting my thoughts, Dustin is going to TKO him and put him 2 yrs away from another shot.

I guess someone would have to ask him that and I would guess (of course) he would deny everything.

Put it this way -- if McG clips Poirier in this fight later in January, I think there's a VERY good chance of a fast fast stoppage, probably what most of us would call an early Stoppage. Don't say I didn't call it beforehand.....

half the stoppages are considered early, so it's not that much of a stretch.

but again, why?

Conor haters cry like bitches but this only came about because Khabib wants no part of Conor 2.0 nor does he want to face Oliveira. It's sad his dad died but almost everybody faces that in their own lives. Most have to go back to work after just a few days off so I'm not buying Khabib's excuses. His era is over.

guess who is not fighting for the belt?

i am not saying he "deserves" a title shot right now.

but i'm saying the circumstances are not the same as when he won the fw belt, or the lw belt the first time.

you're free to believe he won't defend the belt. that's fine. but just using history isn't the only guide. his options are not the same.

you obviously don't like him, and think he's not that good. that's fine. and it's fine you root for dustin.

but if conor can beat dustin, it reinforces that he is indeed a very good fighter and a top lw. and from there, the ufc has some control over what he does next. they even have some control now, in that they can set the expectations of what comes next.
Yeah i don't get this whole narrative that people speak almost as a fact that Conor "won't defend".

Of course he doesn't deserve a titleshot but he will get one for obvious reasons but why can't he defend the belt after it?

When he won the cage warrior belts he wanted to go to the UFC, who cares if he didnt defend belts from a C level organization, he wanted the UFC call

When he won the FW belt used it as a argue for a LW titleshot and when he won the LW belt the opportunity of a lifetime to box Floyd presented itself. So he didn't defend belts because circunstances always presented him better financially opportunities for him, right or wrong this is what was all about.

This time around assuming this is true, he becomes the LW champion and then what? I don't think the Pacquiao fight is there at all, so what is there for Conor? A WW titleshot against Usman? Doubt it. If he doesn't retire since he has so much money and did what he wanted (double champ plus Floyd fight) he will probably defend it against Khabib if he returns or even Nate Diaz.

When will the UFC just start handing Conor belts?

I don’t see Nate being in play if conor has the belt at 155.

Dumbest post I've read today. Conor's earned everything he's got. He's also earned huge dollars for the UFC and even boxing. He packs the bars also.
