The UFC is officially no longer a merit based promotion

Letting Paddy fight for the interim title after giving him free layups against fighters that don't belong in the top 15 has made a mockery of this sport and rankings.

Matchmaking is no longer merit based but money based. Merit plays a far distant secondary factor. They successfully destroyed the meaning of the word competition in this sport. Now it's about who can sell their ass on social media best.

Dana and the Fertitta scum bags did this. I never want to hear that they did good for this sport ever again. They did good for their wallet.

They were some scumbag mafia types who strong armed the original UFC owners out of their organization (look it up) and sold the organization as soon as it blew up in profitability.

Anything else is bullshit propaganda.

If they cared about the sport and it's future they would have kept it and ran it the best they could or sold it to people whose ideology aligned with what the sport should be about:

Respect, discipline, and ethical conduct.

It has never been.

I’m not sure if you’ve ever heard of Brock Lesnar but he got a title shot when he was 2-1 in mma

Haha I love it. The same people talking shit are the ones crying when they hear these bullshit match up announcements.

Bullshit. Conor at least was a champ from the division below. Who the fuck is Paddy? A top 15 fighter at best.
Paddy beat the same dude that other people beat to get their shot. Charles just fought for the title after beating Chandler too. It was always like this.

Everyone at the top now in the UFC is terrible, so they dont even know what to do anymore. Arman ruined an event, didnt fight for like 2 yrs and just beat a nobody. No one really deserves a shot, the divisons are dead.

They don't want too many champs from the caucasus region, prefer the industry plants as champs.

I have ALWAYS hated the "fixed fight!" narrative. It’s so tinfoil hat to me to claim that it's some common thing. (Not that it can never happen--because we've seen it, just that saying it's rampant seems idiotic and likely is idiotic).

But that Paddy fight vs Green...all I'm gonna say is that it set off alarm bells. You have an established striker vs a guy who by all accounts needs to grapple to get the win. After a minute of feeling out and little action, the striker dives into a takedown from distance right into the grappler's triangle choke???

As I'm watching I'm like "wtf?"...but whatever. Brain fart by Green or some shit I guess.

A few days later a buddy of mine texts me a pic of a bet slip from someone (not him, someone who'd I guess posted it on Instagram or something) of a $12k bet on Paddy. Odds opened with him at ~+160 but money flooded in on Paddy pushing him to being favored. He's popular yes so that can explain some of it. But the bet slip i mentioned was from the independent Indian casino in Milwaukee, not a Vegas casino or one of the major books. Why does this **maybe** matter? The big online books have algorithms that track unusual action in real time. It's what triggered the investigation in the recent Dulgarian fight where Del Valle had a ton of late action on him (and even more suspiciously a bunch of action on his rd 1 prop). But independent Indian casinos with sports books? There are enough of them around the country that will take $10-$20k action on a UFC moneyline that a coordinated fix could net a lot of $ without triggering the alerts that the big online books and corporate casinos have.

So...I still am not gonna say it WAS fixed. But damn...there are multiple red flags there.
Well, my friend, it's impossible not to be suspicious.

The proof that Green has taken a dive is all over his career, and especially in the fight against Grant Dawson, a grappler superior to Paddy, whom he was very fortunate to knock out, as was expected of him against Pimblett.
Imagine if he tried a takedown on Dawson, lol.

I could look past the LW shenanigans given that the champ is taking a break and the number one contender has proven to be unreliable, but giving Lopes another title shot after one win when you have an undefeated contender coming off a spectacular KO is unforgivable. I'd feel the same way if Usman gets the next WW shot when there's Morales who has just earned his shot (plus Shavkat, Garry and Prates who should be in front of Usman)

Islam got one after beating Bobby Green didn’t he?

Yes...but it was also his 10th consecutive win in the UFC. 6 finishes, 4 UD's and the only one that was actually competitive was vs Arman.

And Khabib won a title off going 5 rounds with a real estate agent. Now stfu.

And Islam got a title shot off beating Bobby Green. Now stfu.
Ya they did. Did ur dumbass think cuz I used ur buttboy as an example means I’m team khabib? Retard fk. They still fought in the division for those shots. Fighting Bobby at 155 to get title shot is still holds more merit than fighting Nate at 170 to get title shot at 155, retard.

Aldo wanted to move up back in the day... he was told to vacate 145 and if he lost at 155 he would not get a title shot at 145...
So yeah.. different rules for different fighters.
Similar with Silva. They didn't let him fight for the LHW title as long as he held the MW one despite being a very high profile fighter at that time. Conor was the first one they made the exception for.
