The Best Videogame Console you ever played?

The Super Nintendo...the PC is the only game "system" close to it.

Orge Battle
P.T.O. 2
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Mega Man X
Super Mario World
U.N. Squadron
Super Metroid
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Street Fighter
Turtles in Time
Sim City
Chrono Trigger
Shadowrun (the lesser version)
NBA JAM: Tournament Edition
Super Mario All-Stars
Lufia II
Super Castlevania IV
Hank Parker's Black Bass
...
..
..

What more could you ask for in a console? If you asked for more, I'd say that you're greedy.

Mario world, sgng, contra 3, and all the dk games were decent 7/10 games, but you would expect Nintendo to be blowing the competition out of the water and they didn't. Castlevania 4, actraiser, f-zero, starfox, and MMX were all great which is why I still consider it a great console. But then the later X games brought zero innovation and if anything got worse, any shmup they touched seemed to land flat, and generally they weren't able to be a cut above Genesis despite being more expensive. Basically Sega delivered what Nintendidnt.

Super Mario World is often considered one of the best games in the series and is cited as one of the greatest video games ever made. It sold more than twenty million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling SNES game.

Donkey Kong Country re-established Donkey Kong as a popular Nintendo franchise and helped maintain the SNES's popularity into the fifth generation of video game consoles. It is considered one of the greatest video games of all time

Star Fox received critical acclaim and is often considered one of the greatest video games of all time. It sold more than 4 million copies and established the Star Fox series as a flagship Nintendo franchise.

Super Castlevania IV features expanded play control, 16-bit graphics featuring Super NES's Mode 7, and a soundtrack featuring new pieces and arrangements based on previous Castlevania music. Following the same setting as Castlevania on the NES, the game takes place in 1691 Transylvania, where the vampire hunter Simon Belmont must defeat the vampire Dracula. The game received critical acclaim and is considered one of the greatest video games ever made.

Sorry bro the forum is broken and not letting me quote.

Smw sold well because it was supposed to be the heir of smb 3, a much more memorable and ground breaking game. Dkc would have been great if it came out in 1992, but it came out in the mid 90s when everyone else was playing games like Tomb Raider and Virtua Fighter which make it look archaic. I didn't have SNES or Genesis, my friend had Genesis and my cousin had SNES so I played plenty of both but don't feel tribally attached to either. I still think SNES is great but definitely not the GOAT it is sometimes made out to be.

Utter nonsense.

In no way shape or form did DKC look "archaic" when it came out.

When Donkey Kong Country (DKC) launched in 1994, reviews were overwhelmingly positive, praising its revolutionary pre-rendered SGI graphics, fantastic soundtrack by David Wise, engaging gameplay, hidden secrets, and charming characters, with publications like Diehard Game Fan and GamePro giving it perfect scores, though some critics found the difficulty easy or the gameplay mechanics slightly less deep than Mario, establishing it as a 16-bit masterpiece that revitalized the franchise and set new graphical standard.

The mod community made sure that game will be played until the end of time.

I'm 38 and I hope I don't sound like an idiot by saying it's all subjective and dependent on how old you we're, the free time you had, and what time it was in your life (childhood, teenage years, college, etc).

My brother is 8 years older. The NES was his and as we got older the SNES was mine, Sega Genesis belonged to him, and Christmas of 95 or 96 I got a Sega Saturn (amazing for it's time and Panzer Dragoon is all I remember playing) and he got the PS1. He rarely played it and let me have it soon after as he graduated high school in 97'. God bless my mom because she spent must've spent a fortune that Christmas and probably many holidays before and after. I got a Nintendo 64 soon after it was released and that is high on my list.

With that being said, Nintendo 8 bit. Mega Man series, Mario, Star Wars Empire Strikes Back, Ninja Turtles, that Kung Fu game, and Mike Tyson's Punch Out to name a few. I'm sure I'm leaving out others that we owned or that we're also awesome. He wasn't into Zelda so neither was I, but sounds like we really missed out. Mega Man 2 was extremely difficult and I watched him and his best friend spend the whole day trying to beat the last stage. I'm not certain, but I believe once you lost all your lives in Mega Man 2 you had to start from the very beginning.

That same friend use to pause Street Fighter 2 when Chun Li was spinning upside down so he could get a good look at those legs wrapped in pantyhose.

I was born in 1987 so I can't speak on the 80s, but I remember video game arcades and from what I understand the 80s we're even better than the 90s. Didn't know anybody with a 3DO or Neo Geo as they we're expensive as shit and the only time we played them was at FAO Schwartz in San Francisco when we went to visit Dad a few times a year.

Awesome thread and so much gold in the forum list on this site. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Probably the PS3; it had so many bangers.

GTA 4 & 5, RDR1, Infamous 1 & 2, Prototype 1 & 2, Last of Us, Uncharted 1, 2 & 3, God of War 1 & 2 remastered and 3, Assassin's Creed 2 & Brotherhood, Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout 3 & NV, Dark Souls, Dead Space 1 & 2, Littlebig Planet, Resistance 1, 2 & 3, COD: Modern Warfare 1 & 2 + World at War, Crysis trilogy, Ratchet and Clank (can't remember which). There were almost too many. I had so many good memories with the PS3 - except one day I updated it and it stopped reading discs, thus forcing me to buy a PS3 slim lmao.

The PS4 could easily take its place. It was another console that had so many memorable games. Looking back, it probably is my no.1

It might have to be PS2. Most nostalgic for me. Buying that plug-in network adapter for the first time was like opening a portal to a new dimension at the time.

Best console in terms of design, quality or power? Or the one with the best library? Or the one from the time when you were happy and didnt have a mortgage and a nagging wife?
Too broad a question.

Either PS1 or PS2. Hard to say. I think I had more overall fun on the PS1, but the PS2 was great.

PS3 was meh.
PS4 was meh.

I don't have a PS5. I decided I'm gonna hold off until the PS6.

Other than that I owned an NES that was cool for what it was. Enjoyed it plenty.

Game Boy and Game Boy Color. Had fun with both.

I only played XBOX 360 & One at an acquaintance's house a few times. It was alright. I didn't enjoy the controller. It felt wonky compared to the PS controller.

Yep.

DKC looked so good that Miyamoto went and talked shit about it being all style and no substance. The first two absolutely blew us away back then. Errrybuddy’s eyes came out their heads over it.
