The UFC is dead, and it’s no coming back

I think most people can unanimously agree the sport has become watered down compared what it was 10 or even 5 years ago.
Ever since selling the UFC it has gone completely corpo all they care about is becoming a content farm that can be heavily monetized.

I feel this video sums up what the UFC has largely become

Never seen this video before , this is so damn weird

The UFC is dead, and I don’t think it’s coming back. I took a four-year break from watching, and now the company feels completely unrecognizable. It’s all about cage stalling—basically, Jon Fitch-style tactics dominating the sport. There's no personality left in the sport, and no there are strange people like Colby, but even machida had personality without talking too much

MMA always had a bit of a "trashier" vibe, but now it's just beyond belief. MMA fans have always been known for being more conservative, but it's gotten way worse—almost like it’s become a circus now. And don’t even get me started on the Trump-era, right-wing nonsense that's crept in. I've honestly seen influencers get treated better by the company than MMA legends. It’s a sad state. How can u create a star when the company comes first?

Remember that when later this year they sign a billion or almost a billion dollar new media deal or right now the TKO group went private on 25B valuation.

Doom and gloom it appears in the world of the UFC.

P.S.: MMA fans are so out of touch. Sports fans go in streaks in many sports and in the end these sports continue to grow. You're one fan, you mean nothing to any sports league on the world wide level.

The UFC isn't dead and there is coming back.

Just in a lull period, McGregor and Rousey were mega stars, the landscape feels bleak without a transcendent star.

The UFC's biggest problem is that they don't have marketable top-end talent. The Dagestanis are never going to be PPV draws. They only works as heels to matchup with a marketable babyface (like Khabib and McGregor).

Izzy stopped finishing fights and started losing, he stopped being a draw. O'Malley lost. Pereira lost. Their most marketable guys (strikers in the title picture) have all been down on their luck.

People want domestic stars. At least english speaking westerners like Conor. The UFC well has run dry in that regard, their best fighters are all foreigners that lack charisma or drawing power. The lack of American stars is hurting them substantially.

The UFC does have a lot of problems but Jesus some of you guys are so caught up in politics lmao

I’ll never understand why people want to make an MMA discussion about the same low level political discussions you see everywhere else on the internet

I stopped at four year break. You're dismissed casual.

I agree its in a pretty bad spot right now. I rarely watch events and when I have bought the couple i have in the last few years, they were total duds (one being Colby vs Edwards and I forget the other one).

UFC is going to be bigger than soccer and the NFL ya goof

Dec 2001 account. Just a few months after 9/11. Impressive.

What was the last great MMA fight you've seen?

Cheers. Last great mma fight? I'm not even sure. Few and far between. Maybe Justin and Holloway, but that's not the point of the issue with the UFC. You can have a great fight between two prelim guys and it won't have the same impact as a great fight between two high profile fighters. The sport has just become flat to me. I often forget about the next ppv when back in the day the build up to the big events was so huge because of the story lines and characters involved.

A sign that UFC isn't as popular as it used be is that there's no torrents anymore.
The day after a UFC event there used be loads of different torrents.
Now there's hardly any. The last few PPV events I couldn't even find one to download.

Watching people beat the shit out of each other will never go away as a pasttime.

how you going to complain about wall n stall in the age of low level brawlers and kickboxers? clearly you don't watch this shit

And don’t even get me started on the Trump-era, right-wing nonsense that's crept in.
Trump gave the UFC a legitimate event space at Boardwalk Hall in a legitimate fight city (AC) when it was illegal in most states and banned from TV.

The UFC is returning the favor. We would not have MMA at all if it wasn't for Dana, Trump, Joe, Lorenzo and a handful of other early pioneers who fought for MMA's legitimacy.

Machida had personality?
No, he had a puzzle of a fighting style that Shogun figured out.
Plenty of great fights today, keep dwelling on the past and you wont enjoy the present.
