The TUF 20 Fantasy League - General Discussion & Analysis (Registered Players Only!!)

Now that the production team have cleaned up their act, it's back to trusting your gut instincts rather than edited snippets! :D

Not that many people have spoke out confidently on their selection yet, so I think our League will be divided somewhere along the line of 30% Herrig and 70% Markos, instead of 95% of bets in one corner like the previous weeks. If there's a time for major scramble on the scoreboard, it's starting this week! :D

As for me, even if I end up betting on Herrig this week, I'd still be hoping Markos would take the win.

yes, fortunately we don't see a preview with someone actually tapping.:wink:

i'd say you're probably right on the numbers there. i'll be going with markos, but haven't decided the rest yet.

the universe was turned upside down last week when our friend, a certain karate hottie fan, picked the winner correctly...now i feel lost with my picks!!! :icon_chee

SeverianB disagrees... hehe

You really wanna mess with me? I've got double yellow, I'm dangerous!

It's ok. That first round was full of weird crap like injuries that really put a damper on my predictions, hopefully this round will make a lot more sense.

Markos beats up Felice, of that I have no doubt. The MMA Math is just too strong. Torres HUMILIATED Felice, and Markos didn't have much of a problem with Torres.

Michelle Waterson would have a hard time against both these fighters, since they are full-sized 115'ers. I think she'd beat Felice with mental speed on the ground, but Markos is a good wrestler and that fight would be a toss-up. :)

i'm hoping you're right! it would be great to see randa win this one! :)

...and how did you know i was referring to you?!?! :P:icon_chee

Seeding asides, is it safe to assume that most TUF 20 viewers now considered Markos to be higher-ranked than Herrig?

I'm not even sure how the "general public" or whatever "non-diehards" would view Tecia/Markos rankings...

cause as far as they're concerned....Randa beat Tecia narrowly but didn't really have any struggles against her.... then Tecia got another shot but struggled to even win 2 rounds against Bec, and pretty much got lucky the judges weren't paying attention

Struggled seems a bit much

Angela Magana wrote that the judges should have scored the fight 20-16 in favor of Bec, winning each round by two points (but I think she was just troll-baiting with that comment, and not really serious, lol).

she's either on a huge heroine binge right now or she's trying to channel Chael/Conor and just troll people...but she's doing a very very very poor job at it

and is just coming off as even more delusional than the show is portraying her (if that was even possible)

Like with this tweet by Magana?:

"@DanaWhite and @lorenzofertitta if Conor can't sell out i'm happy to step in and headline the Boston card. #QueenSellsTickets"

theyre absolutely hilarious in the "does she ACTUALLY think this about herself?"

I can't tell if this master trolling or true ego/arrogance

The way Magana is going on about Miesha Tate's "fake boobs", I'm wondering if she is hoping that a catch-weight fight with Miesha could happen for her.

Her smack talking people who trashed her (some who didnt even @ her, meaning she's searching for these) are pretty funny

that's what she did to me

gotta be one of the lamer things to do is twitter search people writing your name and then talk shit about them and call yourself "their queen"

I know we always give Justino shit for the way she rides Rousey's coat tail to a new non-news "news article" on a monthly basis, but it's still a step better than whatever it is that Magana is desperately trying to do in order to keep her name in the discussion. It's not funny, it's not witty, and frankly, it doesn't make any sense.

Right now, it seems to me that it's basically the "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks" school of spaming. If only ONE of these idiotic tweets manage to pick up steams when it get a response, then it's mission accomplished.

I certainly hope none of the people who got tagged would dignify this nonsense with a reply. There are WAY more important people/match-ups to focus on with the Quarter Finals ahead.

The Ultimate Fighter 20: Jo Calderwood speaks about "immature" Angela Magana and Bec Rawlings revealing their true colours

Joanne-Calderwood.jpg

In her new weekly guest blog, Scottish TUF 20 fighter Joanne Calderwood breaks down episode 8 and takes a look at Torres vs. Rawlings

"On The Ultimate Fighter, I saw Angela Magana and Bec Rawlings' true colours within a week and now they're just starting to show it on the show. They're just not nice people.

There was no reason for them to go on like that about Tecia Torres and Heather Clark. Yes, Tecia got a second chance but, if any of them been eliminated and had the option to come back in, they would have taken it. The whole bedroom thing was just silly, it was like playground rules. It was like pre-school. It just shows how immature they are.

Bec and Angela have obviously both been through a lot in their lives but you would think they would treat people better because of that.

Bec's main focus should have been her fight. We all knew we were coming to stay with each other so who cares if you're sitting next to your opponent? That's The Ultimate Fighter! She made such a big deal about the bed situation which kind of showed she wasn't there for the series' main reason, which was to win the belt.

Being in the house with Bec and Angela, I saw them being quite nasty to people's faces too so it wasn't just behind people's backs. That's what people who are insecure about themselves are like; they'll obviously think someone's saying something bad about them or they'll always think the worst.

They are definitely insecure in that way. I'm so glad that the show has started showing their true colours.

Tecia was probably the only girl from Invicta I really knew. I didn't go out of my way to tweet her or text her or that kind of friendship but I would always speak to her backstage.

Tecia's always been very nice to me. I like her as a fighter and outside of the cage too. She stood up for herself and said, 'No, I'm not moving bedrooms' which is what I would have done. I really respected that.

When Tecia got moved to our team, although I could see both points of view, I was always thinking she was a high level girl that I got to train with. I took it for what it was. She's like me; she's serious about this sport, so I would give her my time.

I thought Bec never really did anything in the fight with Tecia. I was laughing at one point because she seemed to pull Tecia's hair to make it look like a pineapple like hers.

Tecia never seemed to be in any trouble at all and Bec just showed that she should have been focusing on her opponent instead of worrying about her changing bedrooms.

I was impressed with Tecia's performance. She did well to deal with Bec and get the win. There was a lot of pressure on her with coming back into the competition.

I was quite vocal in the episode about some of the booing from Team Melendez after Tecia's win. There was no need for it. I was really shocked. You don't want anything bad to happen in your sport and for fighters to be the ones that are doing that, it was just completely shocking behaviour. I was really disappointed and that's when they all really lost my respect.

They didn't show the half of my staredown with Rose Namajunas. We were actually there for about 10 minutes! Me and her were just looking at each other and didn't want to be the one to look away.

That's just the way I do a staredown, I just look into them. You kind of get lost in the moment. It's like the first part of the fight, in a way.

Other than my own quarter-final fight, I was most looking forward to Randa Markos vs. Felice Herrig. I think in the next episode you'll see Carla Esparza and Felice's true colours coming out also. I had every faith in Randa that she was going to beat Felice and I was really looking forward to seeing it."

One interview had Jojo do word association for all the contestant's names. I think the one for Bec was "pineapple." lol

Well, guess who bit Magana's bait today! It's kinda sad to see a former Strikeforce BW champion even consider stepping down to their level actually (and I don't just mean the weight class).

Tate should be focusing on her role as the BW gatekeeper, rather than getting trolled by 115'ers who are desperate to stay in the lime light.

Miesha Tate willing to cut weight to fight Felice Herrig, 'moron' Angela Magana
Nov 4, 2014

111414-UFC-Miesha-Tate-and-Felice-Herrig-and-Angela-Magana-PI.vadapt.480.medium.0.jpg

Miesha Tate has a big fight coming up in the UFC women's bantamweight division. But she's keeping her options open -- way open.

Tate said Friday before UFC 180 weigh-ins here at Arenda Ciudad de Mexico that she would be interested in taking on Ultimate Fighter contestants Felice Herrig and Angela Magana at a catchweight. Tate said she would even be willing to cut down to 125 pounds for those fights.

"Oh yeah," Tate said. "Please. That would be great."

Tate and Herrig have gone back and forth on Twitter recently. Herrig and Magana each have an ongoing feud with Tate's good friend and training partner Heather Jo Clark, another TUF castmate. The beef between Herrig and Clark started years ago. And the Magana-Clark rivalry has been featured prominently on this season of the reality show.

Tate said she would actually be more interested in fighting Magana than Herrig.

"I don’t know if [Herrig is] necessarily a bad person," Tate said. "She's just kind of annoying, because she's really dramatic sometimes and it just kind of rubs me the wrong way. Angela, on the other hand, is a complete moron and she's very hypocritical and she's rude and she's a bully and I can't stand her."

Magana has been on quite the Twitter tirade over the last day, ripping mostly Clark and her fans, who she has dubbed "chumpettes." Magana and fellow TUF cast members Rose Namajunas, Bec Rawlings and Angela Hill call themselves the "Skrapettes" since they train with Gilbert Melendez and his Skrap Pack team.

Tate (15-5) said she is actually a natural 125-pounder and only fights at 135, because the lone UFC women's divisions are 135 and 115 right now. The former UFC women's bantamweight No. 1 contender and Strikeforce women's bantamweight champion is hoping that changes.

"[UFC matchmaker] Sean Shelby, are you hearing this?" Tate said. "125!"

Herrig responded on Twitter, telling Tate to come "all the way down" to her 115-pound weight class. Magana called Tate "overrated."

Of course, Tate has her hands full right now with Sara McMann. The two will meet at UFC 183 on Jan. 31 in Las Vegas. Tate is ranked No. 2 among women's bantamweight contenders and McMann is No. 3. Tate really wanted to face Bethe Correia in this bout, but she said Correia turned it down due to an injury.

"I'm hoping that when she heals, we can fight," Tate said. "So I’ll be her next fight."

And then maybe Herrig or Magana? Tate is ready.

Previously I never wanted to see Rousey vs Tate 3, but now I do, just so she can get armbarred back to obscurity and never opens her mouth again.

Gobshites gonna gobshite though

It almost comes off like she's talking shit to her employers too thats how funny and bad she is at it. It would be hilarious if the UFC just saw her tweeting about Cains injury etc and were like....

"look Angela, the public hates you and your shitting on guys who are established champions...we don't need people like you in our company trashing the people that built this place..."
