Well, that may be true. But I didn’t know we were talking about unrealistic expectations. That is not dream country...

Really naive or low info people might actually have that...Well, that may be true. But I didn’t know we were talking about unrealistic expectations.
Are you in Canada or the USA?Our country is so divided I dont know what to call it. Scary times and I just pretend to ignore it all more and more.
Old people. What are the demographic issues?
Danielle Smith came back from being primaried out of the Alberta United Conservative Party to being premier under that same party. Her opening came with the disastrous flipflop leadership of Jason Kenney during Covid-19. If Canadians can see the parallels, Bernier's time may still come. It's easy to count him out when he's down, but I remember people doing the same for Smith. In the end, it is the advancement of the idea that counts more (for me) than the advancement of the person or party.
She's a fucking embarrassment.
This is not a leader. She should have been forced to step down the next day.
The town of Jasper is in Jasper National Park, so while the town is in the province of Alberta, the feds say what goes on there.
The federal government had been warned that the dead wood left from pine beetle infestation was a fire hazard, but the feds did nothing to remove the dead wood.

Beyond Local: Alberta MP pushes federal government to admit 62,000 hectares of dead pine in Jasper left standing before wildfire

The Liberals had blamed the blaze on climate change but the Parliamentary committee investigation is shifting the blame on Parks Canada and the federal government. Viersen said that the government has been warned for years that Jasper National Park was at risk. In 2016, Conservatives first raised the alarm that pine beetles and poor forestry management had made Jasper vulnerable to wildfires, but the government ignored the warnings.
Once the fire started, the feds led the firefighting effort and determined who was allowed through road blocks. The businesses in the town of Jasper had private firefighting contracts, but the additional firefighters were turned away.

Alberta's deputy premier slams 'unified command' snub by feds during Jasper wildfire
Mike Ellis on Monday told a federal committee looking into the fire that provincial authorities should have had more decision-making power.www.stratfordbeaconherald.com
Committee members heard in earlier testimony from private firefighter Kristopher Liivam that a convoy of 20 fire trucks was turned away from Jasper by Parks Canada officials on July 25, three days after the fire broke out.
A lot of finger pointing is going on, but I would like to offer another perspective. Forest fires are not unnatural but natural. The fires are necessary for the health of the forest.

The problem with building a tourist industry around enjoying Canada's nature is that tourists don't want fires when they are vacationing in the parks, so small fires are suppressed. But as with debt, the bill eventually becomes due, and there is a big fire. Personally, I am glad that Mother Nature is so good at taking care of herself that she can even account for the meddling of humans, and I have visited Banff and Jasper many times.
What do you think?
A firefighter died in Jasper, and a third of the town burned down. It was an emotional time. I don't blame her.I mean she's an embarrassment for blubbering like that on TV

The only person I would replace her with is Todd Loewen, and he might have shed a tear over Japser too. But if there is a leadership contest, the new premier could be Rebecca Schulz, and I don't know what she was up to on Jason Kenney's Covid committee. Who would you like to see replace Danielle Smith? If you say anyone, this is how Justin Trudeau replaced Stephen Harper.Cry in private. Not on TV. That isn't leadership.

Is Todd Loewen disqualified if he cried too?How about not another woman?

Would you prefer Travis Toews? He was runner-up to Danielle Smith, but he was also on Kenney's Covid committee.
Be careful what you wish for.
Heard it in person. Didn't take a video. Go vote for bernier and watch the liberals sneak up the middle. I k ow that won't happen, but you and your crew are why we have liberals today. Can you show me an example of him saying immigration is out of control years ago? He was part of Harper's cabinet which greatly increased immigration. I've followed this issue pretty closely and Pierre will take any opportunity to talk about the housing crisis yet seemed to always leave immigration out. The first time I saw him mention it was when he implied it was a problem when discussing the housing costs in Niagara about 6 months ago.
Why is zero bad when immigration has been triple the typical rate for years now? When your sink is flooding you don't reduce the tap flow by 30%, you turn off the tap until the water drains. Btw, the European economy which has improved the most in the past 50 years is Slovakia, which has always had negligible immigration and considerable emigration.

Alberta also isn't very good at fighting forest fires cause, you know, they don't have much for forests. The town of Jasper is in Jasper National Park, so while the town is in the province of Alberta, the feds say what goes on there.
