The true GOAT chins in MMA

Only an idiot would claim a) or b) to be true.

Im not even sure about Melvins power being “underrated”, I mean anyone who knows a bit about him knows him for his vicious striking and balls out style.

Hunt just got caught right on the button by a punch he didn’t see coming, thrown by a guy who tries to take your head off with every strike he throws, I’d say that’s true.

He basically jumped straight into 2 flush full power hooks from Manhoef, a guy who was competitive with K-1 HW's elsewhere power wise.

I would say back in his prime the best ever was Fujita's, punishment just seemed to bounce of of his skull.

Dan Henderson is a great fighter but his chin is exaggerated.

If you pay attention he hardly ever gets hit cleanly.

I don’t mean to be argumentative, but as good as Fujita’s chin was, I don’t think it was better than Hunt’s. I remember Wanderlei knocking him down repeatedly in their match and being wobbled pretty bad by Shamrock. He had excellent recovery and incredible determination though.

A lot of people already jumping the gun on Tony or Max or Nate having GOAT chin, but the true GOAT-tier toughness is:

1. Chris Lytle
.....
2. Carlos Condit
3. Everyone else

Until someone else fights 50+ times without ever being out cold even once, you can add them to this list.

For Lytle it is 70+ professional fights (including boxing and bareknuckle) and he was never KO'd or submitted EVEN ONCE. The only time he was even finished were due to doctor stoppage due to cuts. And not even because he fought clean like Khabib, he was absolutely massacred in multiple fights. His fight against Koscheck is possibly the most brutal domination that went to a decision.

I don't think anyone will ever replicate that kind of toughness in MMA, and certainly not at the UFC level.

The GOAT Chin is just a guy... named Cabbage!!!
Go look at his fight against AA. Then I will accept your apologies for the heresy of not mentioning him!

The best chins belong to the big boys. I get that a welter weight that's never been knocked out in a shit ton of fights is impressive, but he's not getting hit by the hardest hitters in the game. Some of the shots Hunt has taken from guys like CroCop, JDS, Big Foot etc would permanently injure a fighter like Condit or Lytle.

I mean, Imagine someone like Roy Nelson or Derick Lewis throwing a huge overhand right and hitting a welterweight right on the button. They would collapse like a string puppet having its strings clipped. Especially someone like Condit that's on the leaner side. Imagine that punch that Fedor hit Bret Rogers with smacking Condit in the mouth. That shit would probably break a vertebrae in his neck.

If there is any measuring line this has to be it... Least relatively - few hit harder so weathering top ranked fighters will always impress (me) more.

For many years it was generally accepted that Antonio Rodrigo Nougeria was one of the toughest to knockout.

Even though he is not tested much, I am pretty sure that Francis Ngannou has the best chin of all time.

His chin got cracked later in his career but for a long time he was notorious for being impossible to knockout. I mean he took several full power high kicks to the head and stayed up.
that was not late in his career.

Jon jones never knocked down or i am wrong?

Big Nog should be on everyone's list. Ironhead is up there as well.

RDA has a crazy chin also. Eddie was teeing off on him and he wouldn’t go down.
