The superfight went to Diaz

Guys like Nick and BJ and a handful of others have the warrior mentality and wanted to test themselves at extreme levels. I applaud that and really its a big part of their attraction.

I don't think that should take away from Georges though. There is exactly zero shame in wanting to fight the toughest guys in your own division. I thought Hendricks clearly beat Georges and perhaps he wouldn't want to end his career on a controversial split decision, but thats another story.

The dude walked away from the sport a multimillionaire many times over with his brain still completely intact. He walked off as one of the top 3 draws in the history of the sport. Hard to cast doubt on that type of wildly successful career.

Good post.
So pathetic reading about how GSP is a coward from fat/scrawny nerds who would literally throw up crying if they had to do half a training session following the man.

It's one thing to dislike a fighter because of a shitty attitude (Jones, Kennedy etc) and another to call them cowards.

Anybody who ever stepped into the pro ring (or even amateur) has bigger balls than the rest of the population anyway.
Then there are guys like Minowa, Sakuraba, Matsui, Wanderlei, Nick Diaz, etc who just don't give a fuck and are a level above..

Perhaps, he didn't want to go toe-to-toe with pre-Weidman Anderson who was absolutely indestructible, with granite chin and had huge winning streak.

What the fuck are you talking about?

Nick has claimed time and time again he would love to fight Anderson, and has criticized GSP for not taking the Anderson fight.

Nick might not be the best fighter in the world, but he sure as hell is willing to fight the best fighters in the world.

Diaz makin mad bank to fight a IMO past his prime broken down silva.
Congrats

Can't blame him. Diaz getting paid

StrikeForce was a major promotion, and a really fun one at that, but the SF WW title was not a major championship.

It was a major championship. The only minor titles in Strikeforce, were the Interim belts and the U.S. Lightweight and Middleweight titles. WORLD championships are MAJOR championships, so quit spewing your bullshit.

GSP hesitated all this time and never had the intention of fighting the spider without like a '3 years' preparation or whatever, lol.

Diaz accepted. We all know who's the real warrior at 170 lbs.

Here's a picture of diaz being a real warrior in the presence of GSP.

How can GSP possibly compete with that? Just because Nick Diaz is okay with the idea of getting paid a shit load of money to get his ass kicked by Anderson Silva (and let's face it..for the money he's getting paid, I'd accept a fight with Anderson too)

doesn't mean he's better in anyway than GSP.

See the thing is GSP actually had something to lose, Diaz doesn't. Nick isn't the GOAT WW Champion, he's a WW contender that got prison raped by GSP and didn't even manage to beat Carlos Condit.

So let me just clap clap clap at his great "warrior spirit" at being willing to fight anderson for half a million or whatever huge amount he must be getting (cause he made it painfully clear he wasn't coming back without a huge pay raise)

again, I'd happily get ko'd by Anderson for that kind of money. Taking a payday isn't brave.

You want warrior spirit? Find someone who says "I'll fight Anderson on these terms: If I win I get paid, if I lose I get nothing"

and see if Nick is willing to accept that. He knows he's going in there to die.

Of course Nick would, he had nothing to lose.
He was not the champion or even the contender.
Its easy to take big fights when you have nothing to lose but everything to gain.

So WEC and Strikeforce were not major promotions?

Nice gif.

Strikeforce may have been the second biggest promotion in the world at the time, but their welterweight division was anything but major. Diaz beat Marius Zaromskis to win that title, and his first two defenses were against Cyborg and Noons.

That's two guys who aren't even close to UFC material, and one (Noons) who's currently a middle-of-the-pack lightweight in the UFC.

So no, not major.

Fun fact: Lennox Lewis offered to fight Riddick Bowe for 25 million 'winner take all' bout. Bowe turned it down.
Fun fact: Mike Tyson was ordered to fight Lennox Lewis. Tyson paid Lennox 4 million to step aside so Iron Mike could fight Bruce Seldon instead. Lennox agreed on the condition Tyson fight him next. Tyson paid him the 4 million but them refused to fight Lewis.

While it's nice to see Silva is so legendary that you consider a fight with him a "superfight," that's not what this is. This is like Silva-Bonnar - a joke of a fight between Silva and someone whose style is perfect for making Silva look good.

GSP was scared, you can't really blame him. Nick is getting annihilated.

i agree that he was scared. i didn't have a problem with gsp not taking the fight. i did have a problem when he was vague and evasive when asked about the fight, though. just come out and say that you don't want to fight anderson silva because you feel like you wouldn't be competitive with him. fine, no problem. but it wasn't cool when everyone involved teased the fanbase with the possibility of the fight taking place.

i tend to also agree that i think anderson takes the fight. but at least nick diaz is taking the fight. that's a lot more respectable than what gsp did when asked about fighting anderson.

This thread is hilarious. Nice to see the GSP haters are still as dumb as ever.

Nick is taking a fight with a guy who snapped his leg and lost two fights in a row. GSP didn't take a fight vs the most dominant fighter in UFC history.

Also its not a superfight
