I say it goes back to Best of Both Worlds, and DS9 ran with that ball. After BOBW, people wanted more epic, lengthy explosion filled scenes.

And I know it's what the fans want nowadays.
But for me, spectacle is tiresome. Explosions bore me. Twenty ships scattered across the frame shooting in every direction is NOT why I watch ST.

I know we'll never get a slow, thought provoking ST again, I just have to accept that it's going to be shallow action schlock going forward.

We've parted ways, most likely forever.

He had some fine ideas.
The problem was writing the characters into a story cul de sac.

I liked the ambiguity about the Force and good/ evil.
That could've worked with a tight script.

The Romulan empire being destroyed by a single star that isn't massive enough to explode is fucking science- retarded.

That entire idea should've been jettisoned. Romulans were the most interesting antagonists.

And making the entire Federation a bunch of hate filled, murderous assholes is way, way past the line marked "acceptable changes".

They had to go into Mos Eisley in disguise so the pilot guy went as a 20th century Harlem pimp apparently while Picard went as a French smuggler

Yah, those numbers are absurdly off, and they clearly don't have any science advisors.

Or maybe they're paying someone to tell them facts they find inconvenient to the script.

I've been an amateur astronomer all my life and don't know that I've ever heard any scientist in any field whip out septillion.

It's just fucking absurd.
But that's the ST fan now, they don't know and don't care about basic scientific concepts.
