Television The Star Trek Thread V6.0

Is it tho?

How would that even work with the established Borg lore?
Outside the novels and comics, there really isn't much established Borg lore. We have no idea how they were created. Remember Romulans are a much older civilization, than Humans. Who knows what they wrre doing early on.

What the fuck is with the Dr. Jurati character? She’s basically the exact same as Tilly from Discovery. Why the hell do they feel the need to include these socially retarded weirdos that awkwardly walks into a room “Uhh hey, what’s going on here? What are you guys talking about?”

In the past the only socially awkward characters were Spock and Data or some other alien. Now every Star Trek show has to have the token Asperger character?

Some things need to remain mysterious - like the Yoda speciea

What did the Romulans drive to the delta quadrant to drop borgs off???

That's what I was thinking. Didn't the borg come from the delta or gamma quadrant (wherever Voyager was)?

“Will you lend your sword to my quest?”

What the fuck am I watching anymore? Fucker even looks like Legolas ffs.

I'm waiting for a character drama about exploration and morality that isn't depressing and full of death, shooting, and screaming

You're watching the wrong show you should look up a show called Star Trek

Isn't that the boring, smart, boring show about fun space adventures as they meet new aliens and introduce them to human ideals and morals?

Boooooring

No joke

Classic Star Trek gave me hope for the species and mankind

Your joke and the view of new star trek makes me certain we're all doomed

I wrote out a sober, realistic assessment of our actual future as compared with the version TOS and TNG gave us.

But instead, I'm gonna say it'll be great.

Anyone notice some of the shops in Free Cloud

I don't know. Maybe we will find out soon. Gotta give a show a chance

So one of my personal complaints with the show thus far is that Patrick Stewart doesn’t really seem to be playing Picard in this show. His behaviour, mannerisms, the way he talks etc. it’s entirely unfamiliar for the Picard character as I remember him. If anything he’s almost acting more like Professor X making me wonder if it’s the writing, or did Stewart forget how to do the character?

In any event, if that’s how I felt about Stewart’s Picard then in tonight’s episode Seven of Nine really upped the ante. That was completely unrecognizable as Seven from Voyager. “Give me a burbon!” and “what the hell are you doing out here?!” The whole thing was extremely jarring. I get that almost 20 years have passed since the finale of Voyager and presumably Seven could have kept evolving and growing as an individual but there was basically nothing left of the old Seven whatsoever in that performance.

I am really not enjoying this show.

A couple things:

1. Picard is old. You won't be the same person when you're old either.
2. I think the idea there is that Seven (over all of these years that have passed) has managed to slowly regain some of her humanity.

Ep 1 - 5/10

Huge TNG fan. What a letdown so far.
