The beauty of this show is that there are so many possibilities to bring back characters from TNG and DS9. If it's successful, I hope it leads to other Trek shows that are subsequent in the timeline, so we can close other loops (like Qwark) if they are not included in this series. Isn't Rom the Grand Negas at the end of DS9?I would to like see how Quark is doing in this new era.
I said years ago I would love for McFarlane to be in charge of trek, in this thread in fact, and many said I was crazy and he was basically a hack. He's a hardcore Trekkie. For gods sake, he volunteered to be the interviewer for the bonus Blu ray features for the TNG blu rays, just because he loves trek. That said this rumor has been started and continued from the crazy sources, who never have any proof, and are almost always wrong. They have various youtube channels that basically make videos claiming they have insider sources talking about the impending cancelation of Discovery, how Disney is firing all current employees, and how marvel movies are SJW trash. Pretty much the info wars of fandom.Rumor: The Orville’s Seth MacFarlane and NBC Walk Out of Star Trek Sales Meeting
Goddamit. There's nothing I want more than for the official Star Trek universe to be in Seth McFarlane's hands. Though I was ultimately disappointed in the final episodes The Mandalorian showed us what a difference it makes when you have a true lifelong hardcore fan in charge of showrunning the franchise (in that case Dave Filoni flanked by Jon Favreau).
Still, I'm happy to see where Picard takes us. If it's good no need to fix what isn't broken. But Discovery is broken, and I think McFarlane is just the man to fix it.
I like the Orville, but other than a few outstanding episodes, its mostly rehashed TNG era spec scripts that didn't make the cut. It's good, but I don't understand people who claim its the second coming of Star Trek. At the same time, I understand why some people don't care for DSC, but I also feel many people never gave it a fair shot. Both shows have improved with there second seasons. It doesn't resemble Trek to me. I don't understand that perspective because it has a completely different style. It's weak satire combined with some recycled Sci-fi elements.

Also, why would CBS sell there biggest IP, when they are using it as the cornerstone to there online streaming service?
Never thought I'd hear the word fuck in Star Trek.
Stupid movie doesn't exist. They even did it a movie before them

Also some people seem to forget that the Orville has not done well in the ratings. It likely survived because of MacFarlane ls over all deal with Fox, and it also got a massive tax credit to do season 2. Its likely it wouldn't have gotten a 3rd Season until the Hulu deal came along, and saved it. I hope it's successful on Hulu, and keeps improving. What that rumor does highlight:
Orville is now a Hulu original and, like Fox, owned by Disney, which also owns the Star Wars franchise. I cannot think of anything worse than Star Wars and Star Trek IP united under one roof. It'd become the Marvel universe.
Damn kahless was awesomeThe actor who played Kahless has died.
