Fucking epic:

Ya this happened a few years ago. She loves Picard, but usually wears her Janeway Voyager uniform. She's pretty popular at a lot of the conventions. Believe shes from Italy.

It's complete garbage writing and acting to me with an extraordinarily high budget.
DSC main issues have been tinkering with canon, changing the Klingons and other species, unlikable main character, erratic pacing. I think the writing and acting itself has been pretty solid. Whenever I rewatch an episode, I am always surprised that I enjoy it more, and find tons of new stuff that I missed, mainly due to the pacing.

I missed it. Saw it trending today. Blew my mind.

Many theories that this guy in the Picard trailer is The Traveler. Others think it is his Friend Louis, who tried to convince him to Leave Star Fleet for the new Atlantis project. Or is it a new character? What do you guys think?

Hard to tell.

Looks like he has normal fingered hands.

If that’s the case, likely not the Traveler.

I really really hope they're not going to reference and mine all the things and turn the new series into an embarrassing fanfic orgasm.
Just you wait. They'll figure out some way to shoehorn Brandon Routh's Superman in there somewhere.

I thought at first it was just a normal guy, but his head shape does look like the traveler. Need to see the hands to be sure, since the traveler had 3 giant fingers.

Looks like the kids star trek show on Nickelodeon, may not be out until 2022 due to the animation time. No wonder the are refocusing on live action.

Star Trek
is setting a course for animation. Star Trek: Lower Decks, the franchise’s first animated comedy, is set to debut in 2020. But then there’s also an animated series headed to Nickelodeon. The series comes from Dan and Kevin Hageman and, according to an interview that producers Heather Kadin and Alex Kurtzman gave to TrekCore, the series will be computer-animated and isn’t going to be seen for some time. According to Kadin, even hoping to see some footage by 2021 is overly optimistic. “Looooonger,” Kadin said. “I was surprised! As someone who makes big, live-action shows, I heard how long it was going to take and I was like, ‘What?!’ Because it’s 3D animation, so just takes that much longer… But the Hageman brothers [come from] Ninjago and TrollHunters, they’re doing it, so it’s definitely going to be more in that visual look.”

Their experience with computer animation isn’t the only reason that Kadin and Kurtzman sought out the Hageman’s for the new Nick series. There’s also their storytelling skills. “The reason we went to the Hagemans is because if you’ve seen their work, you know that they’re not writing Muppet Babies,” Kadin explained. “It’s not Little Spock and Little Kirk. It’s not playing down [to viewers] that way. Even [with] their characters in Ninjago — they are teenagers — I was able to watch that with my kids and they write with a very epic quality. They tell stories the way we tell stories in live-action: serialized, turning over cards… I think it will be a great way for fans to introduce the franchise to their kids, and for new fans to be formed because it’s such a big franchise, [it can be hard] to get into as a kid.”

The producers also confirmed that the new Star Trek animated series does have a title, they’re just not sharing it at this time. With years left before fans get their first peek at the series, that’s understandable.

Studios involved in the development of the new series include CBS’ new animation arm Eye Animation Productions, Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout, and Roddenberry Entertainment. The series is being overseen by Ramsey Naito, Nickelodeon’s executive vice president of production and development. The show will follow a group of teenagers who come upon an abandoned Starfleet starship and take it on a journey in search of adventures.

I've been wondering how this is supposed to work production-wise. If they really need 2.5 to 3 years. The question to me is: is the majority of this one-time effort? I.e. would they be able to deliver subsequent content much faster? Because otherwise even if they directly order two seasons, even a subsequent third season could not be produced in time after the launch of the first.

I know once certain assets and models are built they can be reused and the process goes faster, but to do a quality animation takes times. The initial build out of the team needed can also be quite daunting. The quality in animations varies quite a bit, but I'm sure since its Star Trek, they will be spending a pretty penny, to invest in the series.

28 years ago today, we lost the Great bird of the galaxy

That's pretty awesome. Did not find a pre-order option. However, I did just pre-order Uma McCormack's Picard book (due February 20th).
Thanks for the reminder! I just finished David Macks new TNG novel. I'm actually kinda sad that Picard will screw up the books canon that they have developed since Destiny. Hopefully, they will use some of the plotlines from the books of the past decade. But considering in the books hes pushing 90 still on the Enterprise, married to Beverly, and has a young son, not looking likely.

I just started watching Orville and I gotta say I'm having shitloads more fun than what Star Trek has become.

And I hate Seth McFarland and Family Guy but he does a more human feeling version of trek

Tng and other treks were not human enough cause Gene Roddenberry thought humans would have evolved past emotions or something.

But in Orville they have real emotions, it's like taking people today and throwing them 400 years in the future - it's great!

I'm a huge fan of Star Trek and watched them all before Discovery too, hate modern trek. Love orville
