Television The Star Trek Thread V6.0

Discovery is a mess, it's not dumpster fire trash mind you but still a mess nonetheless. I've been watching SF Debris' reviews of the show and oh boy it's amusing how the show acts it's smarter and more complex than it actually is.

The best character was Michelle Yeoh's character Philippa Georgiou and she is only appeared in the pilot. When a pilot only character is better written than the main cast of the show, you got a problem.
They have flashbacks with her throughout season 1, then you get the empress in season 2. I shudder to think what would have happened to TNG, if the internet existed back then. Seasons 1 and 2 were pretty bad a whole(and very cringe-worthy) but did have a few gems in there. I think this is DSC make or break season, like many of the other trek series.

Not sure if this was known, Stewart says "possible" second Picard Season would start filming in March.
I think its all but certain it will get a season 2. It would line up time wise for the continuous production schedule they want to get into. DSC will finish season 3 in Jan or Feb I believe. DSC season 3 will likely start airing right away after Picard, So Likey in April. As soon as DSC season 3 ends, they are going into production on Section 31, which would probably be filmed in Sring and Summer of 2020. CBS has pretty much taken over the studio in Toronto, probably to film DSC and section 31, which will have some overlap in filming, with Picard filming in LA.

Probably looking at something like

2020
2-20 Picard
4-20 DSC season 3
7-20 Lower decks
Late 2020 Section 31?
Early 2021 Picard season 2?
Spring 2021 DSC season 4

Then we throw in potential Pike series, and you have the Nickelodeon series, plus a bunch of short treks.

For those wondering about that Tardigrades lawsuit....

Federal judge dismisses Tardigrades Lawsuit
Anas Abdin's copyright infringement lawsuit against CBS, Netflix over #StarTrekDiscovery has been dismissed by Judge Lorna G. Schofield.
She finds no substantial similarity between Discovery and Abdin's never-released videogame.

Damn... Aron Eisenberg who played Nog just passed away. He's had 2 kidney transplants(that's why he was so short, stunted his growth) , but seemed to be in good health. He and Cirroc Lofton had been doing a new podcast together, that was just starting to take off

RIP

Uggh. That is horrible news.

RIP.

Actually hoped for a cameo in Picard at some point :(

Me too. He was active on social media yesterday and did his podcast earlier in the week, so it must have been something sudden, like a heart attack or something.

Goddamn it. I just saw this on Twitter.

I knew that he struggled with health problems his entire life.

DS9 is hands down my favorite instalment of the Star Trek franchise and was a big part of childhood/teenage years.

RIP Aron

Everyone should watch its only a paper moon tonight. A fantastic episode and and a pretty jarring account of ptsd.

Any of the Voyager books worth reading?

Looking to maybe check out the relaunch novels but I might also be interested in the original novels

I read an article that said one of the books goes into detail on why Janeway was locked in her quarters during the first half of "Night".. Could be interesting

Rather gutted since hearing about Aron Eisenberg's death.

50 is too young. Not that it's something I sit around thinking about, but wouldn't have thought he'd be one of the first members of DS9 to pass away.

He really brought something to playing a Ferengi and through his acting made it believable that they could be more than just comedy characters/scumbags.

It would have been cool to see Nog pop up again, like on Picard as already mentioned.

I've read a few of the relaunch novels by Kristin Beyer, and they are pretty solid. Janeway in some of them has a more background role, since she is now admiral, so it's interesting seeing Chakotay as captain, with Paris as first officer.

By the way, Kristin Beyer has the star trek fan dream story. She wrote Voyager fan fiction for years and put it on the internet, and it became so popular they gave her a shot a writing, and ended up relaunching the voyager novels on them. They proved popular and well reviewed by the fans. She made around a half dozen voyager novels, then she was chosen to be on DSC writing team, with no TV experience. She was then placed in charge of overseeing all media for star Trek, so she in charge of now making sure all the TV, movies, comics, games ect all work within Canon. She also apparently pitched the premise of the Picard show to Kurtzman. Pretty cool.

Apparently Aron Eisenberg, suffered a major heart attack, that caused his death. He was very passionate about coaching soccer, and had just finished practice for the highschool he coaches for and collapsed walking off the field. Pretty sad, but at least he was doing something he loved

The guys had major health issues his whole life. He was born with 1 deformed kidney, which stunted his growth, and was on dyalisis all through middle and high school. He got a kidney transplant at 17, and that kidney lasted him 26 years. 3 years ago his kidney failed and he went back onto dyalisis. A friend donated him another kidney, and he's been in great health since. Damn all that, then taken out by a massive heart attack at 50.

Tele 5, German Television Channel, changed its programming to show two Nog episodes on Saturday.

Star Trek Enterprise first aired this day in 2001.The most underrated star trek series IMO, that has aged like fine wine. Give it a watch if you never have.

Any been to the alamo drafthouse in Austin? Epic plaque.

Happy bday TNG. TNG premiered 32 years ago today.
