Television The Star Trek Thread V6.0

this series is the only good thing to come out of picard

I love these, they really deconstruct how awful the writers of Picard are. Rich's laugh makes me laugh!

entertaining as hell breakdowns of each episode :D

Imagine being a Cardy or Ferengi, IIRC Shimerman talked about spending 4 hours of a shooting day in the makeup chair. Ryan had it a lot easier than the alien characters.

I can only imagine how irritating that must have been. He was in tons of episodes too.

I Love Quark! He and Odo had the best chemistry

I'd happily argue the pros and cons of her overt sexualily, but telling me to grow up because I personally enjoyed her appearance, and thought it was worth her struggle, is not a good start.
The grow part was directed at calling someone gay over saying the same thing I did after. You could've meant it in purely jest, hard to tell on the internets. Seemed juvenile to me and then you got very defensive

Quark has no arc

It's like poetry, they rhyme

But Quark is such and awesome character, and so well played.
He really did a great job of walking the line between being an asshole to family and being caring and sentimental.

It's always in jest for me, unless someone's being a dick. You could have just have just asked

We'll put this to bed with a glass of my Romulan ale,

I love Ferengi episodes, the one where a group of them go save Moogie from
the Dominion was so funny. Or the one where he courts a Klingon female.
Priceless, where Worf controls Quarks body and the suit glitches and he has to stall for time.

John Sheridan would make such an interesting Starfleet captain.
Some parallels with Sisko as well.

Probably my favorite ep is the one where the wormhole aliens alter the Nagus' character to be nice and generous, and rewrote the Rules of Acquisition.

It was hilarious seeing Quark's reaction upon reading the first new Rule.

That's fair, I jumped to conclusions. I apologize

A week ago I was watching the ENT episode
Harbinger.

For those who know the ep, Malcolm and the head MACO get into a fight that's reasonably fun to watch.

Anyways, before that fight, the scene begins with Malcolm at a mirror working his combinations. He throws a feint or two in with some pulled punches, while moving.
Suddenly he does this laughable, hard to describe move that looks like dance: he throws his feet into a wide stance and gestures up to one side, it's hysterical.

Some actors look good, like they've trained a little. Some actors decidedly have not.

The funny thing is Ferengi we're suppose to become the TNG era Klingon baddies. That changed quickly

ENT episode "The Andorian Incident" contains some of my favorite Phlox dialogue:

PHLOX: "Well, you must be looking forward to visiting the sanctuary.
T'POL: It was the Captain's idea.

PHLOX: But such an opportunity to appreciate your cultural history.
T'POL: It is a Vulcan sanctuary, if that's what you mean.

PHLOX: Precisely my point. You'll be able to introduce some of your own people to your new crew. Oh, I believe I see the source of your misgivings. Being seen with a human crew.
T'POL: It could create a certain awkwardness.

PHLOX: May I?
(He picks up with his fingers a piece of the salad she's eating with knife and fork.)
PHLOX: I confess I feel awkward on this ship myself, sometimes, out of place. But what is that Vulcan motto? Infinite diversity...
T'POL: In infinite combinations.

PHLOX: And what is diversity but a celebration of differences? I wonder if you might remind me about our mission on this vessel. Please, hm, indulge me.
T'POL: Our mission is to make contact with those whom humans consider new life and new civilisations.
PHLOX: In other words, to seek infinite diversity.

T'POL: I suppose so.
PHLOX: Well then, it seems to me a cultural exchange between your Vulcan brethren and your human crew is simply a furtherance of that mission."

Weird how they were written then. That large brain case evolved to house a bigger brain than ours, you'd think they'd be more than grunting, sniveling idiots.

That capitalism got to them.
Or how about when Morn disappears and pretends to be dead.
And a whole rag tag group of bandits shows up for his robbed latinum.

I loved the way the story ends. For as thin as it stretches credulity it's still just a fun episode.

One of those beautiful, classic "bottle" episodes that stand alone and can be watched individually without missing season-arc plot points.

T'pol:
"(Vulcans)We don't believe in responding to violence with violence."

Strange, then, that Vulcans arm their ships...
