MU O'Brien: We run!
Sisco: We run all right. Right at them!
MU O'Brien: Ah, attack pattern "suicide".

Season five high so far:

"I cannot defeat this Klingon. I can only kill him."

Low:

Odo having sex for the first time.

Man, René Auberjonois was so good as Odo.

latest

The episode Tme's Children where Kira meets the Odo who'd been thrown two hundred years back in time was heartbreaking.

DS9 was able to develop character relationships like no other Star Trek series I think in part due to the use of the story arcs.

So. Many. Ferengi. Episodes.

Lots of beautiful women, though. I had forgotten about Hilary Shepard, what a smoke show.

Comic-Con Trailer for STAR TREK: DISCOVERY Season 2

Star Trek: Discovery Spinoff STAR TREK: SHORT TREKS Set at CBS All Access

CBS All Access is not wasting any time in expanding its Star Trek universe.

The platform used its time Friday in front of diehard fans at San Diego Comic-Con to announce a short-order spinoff of Star Trek: Discovery. Called Star Trek: Short Treks, each of the four-episode series will run between 10-15 minutes and feature deeper storytelling surrounding the characters and themes from Discovery and the expanding Star Trek universe. The series will launch in the fall and roll out monthly, helping to keep awareness of Discovery high before its return in January 2019.

Rainn Wilson will return to reprise his role as Harry Mudd in a short he will direct. Aldis Hodge (Hidden Figures, Showtime's upcoming City on a Hill) will star in another installment as Craft, a man who finds himself the only human on board a deserted ship. Additional episodes will explore Saru's (Doug Jones) backstory as the first Kelpien to join Starfleet and Tilly's (Mary Wiseman) journey aboard the USS Discovery and her friendship with an unlikely partner.

"There is no shortage of compelling stories to tell in the Star Trek universe that inspire, entertain, and either challenge our preconceived ideas or affirm long held beliefs, and we are excited to broaden the universe already with Short Treks,” Discovery showrunner Alex Kurtzman said. "Each episode will deliver closed-ended stories while revealing clues about what’s to come in future Star Trek: Discovery episodes. They’ll also introduce audiences to new characters who may inhabit the larger world of Star Trek."

The news comes as Kurtzman is fresh off a new $25 million overall deal extension with Star Trek discovery producers CBS Television Studios that includes expanding the beloved franchise with new series. (A Patrick Stewart series with the actor reprising his role from Star Trek: The Next Generation is said to be among the new series being considered, sources say.)

I hope they experiment a bit on the storytelling. This is their chance to see whether fans only dig the "new" way of Discovery or whether a mode that's truer to the core of Star Trek would not also work as well or better.

Rebecca Romijn, has been cast as, Number One, the Enterprises first officer during the cage era.

Here's some takeaways from the trailer and the panel

Discovery Season 2’s stream date will be January, 2019

“Yes, you will be seeing Spock this season,” teased Kurtzman

Captain Pike take command of the USS Discovery for this mission

Rebecca Romijn, has been cast as Number One, The Enterprises, cage era first officer to captain Pike.

“We know we owe you a lot of answers about how this season connects to canon, and you will get them,” said Kurtzman. “You just won’t get them how you expect you will.” He also confirmed that we can expect a lot of Trek Easter eggs this year.

The showrunner said that this season will be about family, with the Disco crew now a family, and perhaps characters will even have to choose between their real family and their new family

Doug Jones confirmed that we’ll finally visit Saru’s home planet this season. And Rapp said there's some "fun stuff" we can expect this year about Red Shirts.

A fan asked if Jason Isaac’s Captain Lorca might come back, and Kurtzman simply said “maybe.

I think these new uniforms look great. In the new Discovery books, it is revealed that the uniforms we see on the Shen Zhou and Discovery, are the Star Fleet uniform of the era. The New/retro uniforms, will eventually be rolled out to the rest of the fleet, but are currently only being issued/tested on the new Constitution class star ships. I personally Like the Discovery uniforms, and thought they really bridged the gap between Enterprise and TOS, that said these new Constitution uniforms looks great, and it won't surprise me if Discovery switches to them soon.

Brief interview with Alex Kurtzman and Heather Kadin, Star Trek executive producers. Being kinda vague, but obviously the wheels are in motion for a lot of big things.

A Star Trek Cinematic Universe on TV with different tones and formats
How true is it than you are now in charge of a “Star Trek Cinematic Universe,” on television? Is that what really is going on?

Alex Kurtzman: On television, that is true. We are doing a lot of work on building out the universe, and we’re wanting to take our time, but there’s a lot of exciting things on the horizon.

And this is beyond Discovery?

Kurtzman: [nods yes]

Would it be fair to say it’s all set in the Prime Universe, but possibly different time periods?

Heather Kadin: Well I also think it’s important to say that it’s not just one hour drama. I mean, there’s so much opportunity to “bend not break” the franchise in formats we haven’t seen in a while, different tones. And what’s amazing about Star Trek is that it’s such a beloved franchise that we have writers calling – I mean, Michael Chabon, who wrote one of the shorts that Allis Hodges is starring in – Michael Chabon, Pulitzer Prize-winning author, is like “Hey, I want to write a short for you for $2.55”. So we get people from all different tones – comedy writers, animation writers, who just want so desperately to be a part of Trek.

Kurtzman: [People] who love it, who loved it since they were kids, and to just have the opportunity to play in the toy store, so amazing.

Pulitzer Prize winning author Michael Chabon wrote one of the upcoming ‘Trek Shorts’

Animated series? Picard? Khan?
So the animated is definitely going to happen?

Kadin: Conversations…

Kurtzman: It’s a conversation, yeah.

And you’re looking for other places besides CBSAA, like there’s possibly a CW thing?

Kadin: I think right now it’s fair to say the plan is that any and all live-action Star Trek will be on CBS All Access.

Any reaction to either the Wrath of Khan story or the Picard story?…There are rumors, care to debunk, or is it alive?

Kurtzman: I mean, they sound super cool, I’m a huge fan of both stories, it’d be really cool to see something like that.

Sounds like nothing is set in stone except the DSC webisodes.

Not the old stuff again

We won't be afraid of things we don't already know

I've been binge watching Ent.

That show deserved more seasons.
Pretty underrated.
I liked all the cast members and Hoshi was yummy.

Pretty much consensus today. But then, almost nobody saw it that way.

I hated it at the time for reasons I can't recall.
T'Pol is an interesting Vulcan struggling with emotion.
Archer is a strong Cap.
Phlox is maybe the most intriguing and least explored character.
