I paid like $11.99, $7.99, and $9.99 for the books.

Hopefully that Discovery crap is cancelled soon. Flush the shit and bring in Picard and TNG-sequel. And make it recognizable Trek.

Hell no@cancelling Discovery. It is successful and without that, we would never get the Picard series. Keep that in mind. I want DSC Season 2 to heal some of the stuff I did not like about Season 1, but cancelling the series would be a huge setback. Rather cancel the Kelvinverse movies.

The era of DS9 and VOY is gone, we will not get series that look and feel (and work - think of the serial logic of TV nowadays) like that any more. But I do agree that faithfulness to Canon should be a priority where possible.

I'd prefer it if they cancelled the JJ-verse movies too, but most definitely Discovery for me. Bring back the real Star Trek in both TV and Movies. A Picard post-Nemesis series that actually looks like TNG/DS9/VOY would be a step in the right direction (if that is indeed what they do). Make it look like a future version of that. Completely flush the JJ-shit which has invaded and metastasized into everything Trek both in movies and TV since his first movie (though I did like the reboot and Into Darkness as one-offs). I just want them to bring back recognizable Trek. Something that actually feels like the Trek I knew and loved. Hopefully this new Picard series can take the baton from Discovery and run with it and then there'll be no use or need for Discovery.

#NotMyTrek

I still want the Tarantino movie as a one-off, but from there I'd like to see the films get back to the TNG look, feel, timeline, etc. Please, for the love of God!

The Midnight edge, is well known in trek for posting total click bait videos. He makes grand claims and predictions, and claims to have hollywood insider info, yet is always wrong. I'd steer clear of his videos if you want real info.

Ok, thanks.

Never heard of him and it popped into my feed out of nowhere.

One thing I like to remember, is that Discovery is realy the first series of the modern era with the internet and social media. Yeah you had it somewhat for ENT, but not like it is now. I really think that if alot of the Trek series aired today(as in story plotline) they would be criticized and possibly cancelled, be cause many had awful first season. BBC America had a TNG marathon on the other day, and were playing season one, and as much of a hardcore trekkie as I am, alot of hard to watch and the acting was laughable.

Some people just seem to hate Discovery. I was luke warm to it honestly, after the first few episodes. But, week after week, they got better. The show was rife with production turmoil, and too many hands in the pot. But you could tell by midway, they were finding there way. It was kinda telling inn the intro credits, when the actors credits were shorter than the Executive producers. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians. But, overall it was still the best first season of any trek series. It really seems like they are focused on fixing those mistakes in season 2, and with Kurtzman now taking on the Rick Berman role. Really this is a amazing time for Star Trek. Probably the most exciting, since TNG and DS9 were airing at the same time, with Voyager in pre production.

I don't think this is a case of first season blues. I just outright hate what Discovery is. It's all wrong. It's basically The Last Jedi of the Trek universe.

Look who's on set today directing. That means they are already filming episode 10. Frakes is directing episode 2 and 10 this season.

I thought about the Destiny seriss name again. And I think I may know what it's about, and it has me thrilled.

The Destiny book series is probably unfilmable due to cost and actor age. But there was also the rumor of an animated series. What if they made the Destiny series Canon that way? It would be a fantastic series and it would make it possible to fill the gap between Nemesis and the Picard series timeframe.

It is just such a perfect story its a shame its not considered canon. I'd be happy with any attempt to show the destiny story.

I always like the one DS9 ep where Jake gets the baseball card for Sisko.
When he meets that character with the live forever tank and where lies
to the Vorta when he gets caught

From the Deadlinw interview with the AllnAccess bosses:

DEADLINE
: How did the idea of bringing back Patrick Stewart’s character come about, and how long did it take to get him to do it?
STAPF: It came to us, as do all things Trek now, through Alex Kurtzman, with the idea of, wouldn’t it be cool to do something Next Gen-oriented, and/or get Patrick Stewart and/or any of those iconic Next Gencharacters. As Patrick himself has said, he was of the opinion that “I’ve done that character,” but he got a meeting with Alex and some of the other guys and they won him over. The deal didn’t take that long once he decided to do it.

I heard he was very receptive, but he wanted 1 million per episode. I heard about this a good month or two before the announcement, so I wonder what his number will be. Now they are just going to try and figure out how to bring back data. There was an episode of TNG where Data did say he had the ability to age his appearance, if need be. @JDragon after you get done with Typhon Pat, you should read the Cold Equation 3 book mini series, which deals with bringing Data back from the B4, and then the more recent book,The light fantastic

Currently in the Books, Data has left Star Fleet, and has become a Tony Stark like badass Playboy.

That sounds pretty crazy, haha :)

Regarding the interview snippet I posted, I think the new info there is that Kurtzman did think about additional characters from TNG when he pitched the idea. Gates McFadden (Beverly) did say that she's not aware yet if it's just Stewart or also additional TNG characters in the new series.

What we left behind, the DS9 documentary, will premiere in just a few weeks in late Oct. They currently have 5 full minutes of fully restored wide screen HD from DS9, but are now looking for more last minute donations, to make all 20 minutes of screen DS9 footage into HD.
http://trekcore.com/blog/2018/08/ad...-documentary-fundraiser-announced-hd-footage/
In a breaking news update from the What We Left Behind documentary, the upcoming look back at Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the team behind the project has announced another round of fundraising efforts to expand the quantity of high-definition Deep Space Nine footage in the final project.

After raising over $645,000 dollars for the project in early 2017, allowing the documentary team to conduct interviews across the United States, expand the project to include new graphics, new writers-room discussions, and of course, license the use of Deep Space Nine episode footage for the project — the most costly part of the project — it was finally confirmed that a portion of the DS9 footage would be scanned for HD presentation earlier this year.

But that fundraising effort only resulted in about five minutes of HD footage to make its way to the documentary — compared to more than fifteen minutes of standard-definition footage — and producer/director Ira Steven Behr is once more asking fans for help to get the last of the low-quality episode clips upgraded to high definition.

While the team showcased a tiny clip of HD footage from “Emissary” at their STLV panel earlier this month — one which was not able to be shared online, and was only able to be seen on a large projector screen in Las Vegas — the first comparison of SD-to-HD Deep Space Nine imagery was revealed in today’s update video, from the famous ‘root beer’ scene in Season 4’s “The Way of the Warrior.”

New $50 backers for this HD-upgrade push will be eligible to receive collectible What We Left Behind challenge coins, and higher-level $500 backers will be personally credited in the documentary itself as specific scenes can be ‘sponsored’ in the final project.

An example ‘backer credit’ for a $500 contribution sponsored HD scene.

Preliminary designs for ‘high-definition hero’ rewards.
As you may notice in the ‘backer credit’ illustration and HD framegrab of Garak above, there’s some additional picture information on the sides of the image, allowing the scene to be presented in a 16×9, widescreen format.

What We Left Behind producer Kai de Mello-Folsom told us that while a hypothetical full-series remaster may be presented differently if it ever comes to fruition — remember, CBS Digital maintained the original Next Generation 4:3 ‘full frame’ format — the documentary project will be showcasing the HD Deep Space Nine footage in widescreen.

While this may result in some minor cropping on the top and bottom of the frame, it will include ‘overscan’ content — that extra picture on the sides — which weren’t seen in the classic television or DVD presentation. In addition, for the later seasons, a special contributor has even been helping out with the DS9 episodic footage.

The expanded, original film content fully exposed in the new HD scans.
“We have been consulting with director of photography Jonathan West,” de Mello-Folsom told us, “who confirms that, at least from Season 3 on, camera operators were framing ‘action-safe’ for widescreen — in order to future-proof [the episodes] for eventual, possible, widescreen release.”

To be clear, this is not an indication of how any (still hypothetical) CBS-lead remaster might look; the documentary team is rescanning this footage on their own without the supervision of CBS Digital, who managed the Next Generation project. This HD content is only for the documentary and would likely be re-assessed if a formal DS9 remastering would ever occur.

No formal ‘stretch goal’ has been set by the What We Left Behind team for this new fundraising push, but we did learn that the team is working to include in scenes from across all seven seasons of the series — which means taking care of research and film transportation costs, scanning the film elements and cataloging, conforming, recoloring, and licensing that rescanned footage… plus taking care of any visual effects which may need to be handled in those clips.

(It’s a complicated process!)

The new fundraiser campaign is being managed through DS9Documentary.com — to contribute, follow this link!

In addition to the renewed fundraiser effort, the team revealed that longtime Emmy Award-nominated Star Trek composer Dennis McCarthy, along with Star Trek: Enterprise composer Kevin Kiner, have signed on to score the documentary. McCarthy, of course, is one of the most prolific composers in Trek history, scoring over 250 episodes (as well as the Star Trek: Generations film) including 76 episodes of Deep Space Nine.

Finally — in an update that was revealed to backers over the weekend, and formally announced in today’s update — the biggest question about What We Left Behind has been answered: when will this film actually get to be seen?

The first public screening of the documentary will take place in Los Angeles on Friday, October 12, followed by the East Coast premiere in New York City on Sunday, October 14.

(The planned premiere in London is not yet scheduled, but we hear it’s tentatively planned for later in October — details on that, along with plans for streaming and Blu-ray/DVD releases, are still being finalized.)

Here's a screen grab from What we left behind, in the efforts to bring us DS9 in full HD. They are also restoring it to full wide screen HD, and the HD 4:3 that was done for TNG. If you haven't ordered the Blu Ray yet, you still have time. They are having there LA, NYC, and London premieres in OCT. I only just learned that Malcolm McDowell (the ST: Generations villain) is Alexander Siddig's uncle, more specifically, his mother's brother. Mind blown.

Yeah hes talked in the past about speaking with him about taking the role, and other show business stuff.
