I think snack is great idea. Kids like them, there are snacks for cats and dogs, singularity won’t be able to resist probably.

So I think broadly speaking we can say it's happening now, were basically the frog in the water on the stove, it's heating up but feels fine right now.

I just read industry analysis that in 5yrs Hollywood actor numbers will drop from over 35,000 to about 1,500.

That's because of LLMs and image generation. An example of the unpredictable nature of the revolution. The difference to previous revolutions of course being that this is the singularity is that it's permeant revolution going forwards.

I guess the question is what might we do to best protect ourselves going forwards?

I imagine the usual prepping is sensible, but then I suspect there are further considerations.

First and foremost is probably wages, ability to earn. In the industrial revolution people had to find jobs after their farming jobs were annihilated, they went into industrial production mainly and we're good more or less for the rest of their working lives (obviously many were just straight fucked by it, not the point).

The point is that in this revolution there is no safe port of call to move to. You change from actor, or customer service rep to IT work, oh that is replaced in a few years or months by AI. This continues faster and faster, the pace of change outstrips humans ability to adapt. We've evolved to know everything by 20 and retraining is difficult, we face a situation where no amount of retraining is effective.

So be adaptable sure, have diverse revenue streams.

One that leaps out to me is property ownership, AI can't create land for a bit, until everything is virtual a la the matrix property will be valuable. At least it can mean you don't pay rent.

Live in a manor industrial economy, one of the richest in the world, they will be beat placed to weather the storm.

Live away from major population centres but near enough to medical facilities and also consider global wind patterns on radiation. Ireland and new Zealand rate high.

Consider food security, if you have land to raise pigs on etc you'll be better protected. Guns etc of course to protect yourself, but also societal engagement locally as local social groups may be a valuable balwarke.

Also consider that currency itself will likely become meaningless in the near future as tax payers evaporate. Savings won't be of much use in many instances.
