The Simpsons Was Always Overrated as Hell.

conan obrien years Simpsons was the GOAT

Dude coulda said South Park, Bob's Burgers, Rick and Morty - anything and kept a shred of credibility. What does he do instead? Instead he comes out of the gates swinging with this Family Guy bullshit.

Quality imagination takes old ideas, then reimagines it in an episode. That's creativity. What does Family Guy do? They say, "hey, hey you, do you remember thing", then pause for laughs.

Just because American Dad is on the air doesn't mean it's relevant. I wouldn't call the Simpsons relevant anymore yet they regularly outperform both American Dad and Family Guy in the ratings, let alone what they pulled in their prime.

American Dad has never really been relevant. Family Guy was for a while but not as long as the Simpsons and certainly not now.

Bobs Burgers is dogshit. Come at me.

I guess it depends if you enjoy sophisticated, carefully constructed satire or lowbrow potty humor.

The one critical judgement @Arkridge made was that 'The Simpsons wasn't even crude'

lol He's just a dumb kid.

No, @Arkridge The Simpsons gets it's high reputation for being a great satire with witty jokes and characters.

This thread blows

I agree. I still watch The Simpsons occasionally (1 out of every 4-5), but Family Guy is just 100x better. And Family Guy is still great today, imo. A lot of folks think it turned to shit, but I completely disagree.

Family Guy is actually written by manatees who push idea balls back and forth

I can't dig the Simpsons either, I think that it and Seinfeld are criminally overrated which I'm sure will earn the ire of even more faithful fans. They're just not funny for me, and that sucks being two "significant" longstanding comedy shows that don't make me laugh. I'm >30, so I was raised during its heyday, but it never resonated with me whatsoever.

Another show I've never seen but heard a lot about is Archer. That's the show in your AV right?

Not a big Simpsons fan, haven't watched it in at least 20 years. But Family Guy has to be the dumbest show ever put on TV.

Not many know this, but the Simpsons is responsible for the single greatest line of drawing in ink in history: episode 447,002, season eleventy, panel 57, lower right corner

So when did the mentally retarded become eligible to get the mod blues?

I like vulgar, crude shit too but it takes a backseat to the subtle, poignant genius of 90s Simpsons.

Let's continue the highlight reels:

family guy is horrible.. I cant even watch it... " it reminds me of the time" flashback comedy... Southpark is 100 times better and the shows actually have something to do with whats going on in society..
top 3 cartoons
south park
rick and morty
simpsons.

I will say that it's GOAT status is a tad overrated. I think it's been equaled, if not surpassed by a few shows. South Park has only barely deteriorated after like what? 20 seasons? It's still funny as hell, and it's only truly bad seasons, are when it first started out. Rick And Morty is as good as anything The Simpsons did. Archer is up there as well.

Simpsons get some OG bonus points obviously, but I do believe if all these shows came out around the same time, The Simpsons wouldn't be the pick of the litter, even during it's peak years.
