The Righteous Gemstones on HBO...

That jasons steakhouse aka liberty tap room had an excellent selection of beers I used to look around for the signs on the wall to see what beer I would discover.

They started taping in july for season 3 im guessing we wont get it till january or February. This show is really well written aside from the comedy it ties up story arcs well or continues them well if need be.
 
love this show. every season has been a hit so far. i typically will measure the quality of a comedy series on the strength of its secondary & tertiary characters, & The Righteous Gemstones is an embarrassment of riches in that department. Keefe, BJ, & Baby Billy (& Judy, but she’s main) are the true heroes on this show who elevate it from pretty great to super fucking legit.

The Righteous Gemstones is hands down the crown jewel of the McBride/Jody Hill/DGG collaboration. i’ll fight anyone who thinks Eastbound & Down is their best project.

Baby Billy is a national treasure. That scene where he's talking about how he makes no money off his BS products kills me all the time. They even started doing memes on that and it still makes me laugh.

 
Keefe escalating massage on kelvin was a hilarious gag.
 
I just don’t think Danny McBride is that funny. He’s ok in some stuff. But he’s more like a high school sophomore’s idea of funny.

He is absolutely like all of my high school friends when we were in high school. And they weren’t funny then either.

The Righteous Gemstones is great though, trust me. McBride is doing McBride, that’s for sure, but his character wears his schtick well imo. McBride is always super samey & super hit or miss/was growing old, but it definitely works here. feels like his shtick has been rejuvenated.

but really, like i mentioned in my other post, the true comedic beauty & soul of TRG is the entire supporting cast. not to mention the great story writing in each season so far. a lot of comedy series will fall victim to treading water syndrome at some point mid season, but TRG is tight af from episode to episode

The recurring gag with his side burns this season was funny.

Maybe I will try it out. But I watched the trailer and just couldn’t find a reason to watch the show.
