The Pub - Belph's Battle with Anorexia

Thanks for the reply, Keo. Just out of interest, do you rate Juggernaut Training Systems? I know Wesley Smith himself is very strong; 900lb Squat, I believe.

I don't think too many guys actually train at his facility--I don't think any of the JTS guys train there regularly.

If I get an hour to play games it's a miracle, so one game I like lasts me forever. When GTA V's DLC comes out that will do me for 3-4 months. PC gaming is probably objectively better but I'd rather not bother to keep up with the games I want to play.

For me it really depends on the game. The only games I've played past the main quest/storyline are Skyrim, Watch_Dogs and The Games From The Greatest Gaming Series Ever And It's Not Even Close.

I didn't know that. Although come to think of it, Brandon Lilly is one of the JTS "stars" and he of course trains in his own gym in Kentucky.

Yeah. He was at Berea Barbell not too long ago with a few other top JTS lifters (Caitlyn Trout and Corey Hayes), but I think that's all split up now. The other JTS guys almost all have their own gyms.

Believe it or not, 22nd Street Barbell (our soon-to-be home gym in Iowa) is one of the bigger producers of elite-level lifters in the country right now. Besides Beau Moore, nobody is really at the level to set world records, but I think we've got four ranked women and seven or eight ranked men. Give it a few years and it'll very likely grow into something bigger; the midwest right now is producing a lot of good powerlifters.

I could be wrong, but I seem to recall reading that the Midwest is(or was)the heartland of Wrestling as well.

Must be something in the water.:D

I might do a single-ply meet someday, but it's just not a terribly competitive sport anymore in the States. #1 at 148 in single-ply is something like 1530ish, while the best raw (with wraps) guy in the world just did something ~1480. I'd rather just focus on one discipline and get as good as I can in that one thing.

I don't think it's fair to compare the two, since they compete under such different conditions. Give Doc holloway 24 hour weigh ins, whatever 'supplements' Talmant is taking and a deadlift bar, I guarantee you that gap increased significantly.

Had to do lunch for work for tomorrow and was too lazy to do anything fancy so just put some veggies, rice and chicken to a pot and put it on boil then added all kinds of seasoning I could find (chili, curry, oregano, salt, some "shrimp" noodle seasoning). Basically just making a mess for food. Or that's how it was untill I tasted it and now I can say that I'm in for a treat tomorrow.

Well, I wasn't talking about Eric; I was talking about the Australian 148 that just broke the squat record.

And yes, you're right, but at the same time, the gap between Doc Holloway and the top single-ply lifters at that weight class in the IPF is enormous (probably 250+ lbs.). My point was just that single-ply just isn't a big deal in the States anymore; there are a few top lifters here, but many of the weight classes are pretty thin. Competition Stateside isn't all that great.

Who was that aussie? I hadn't heard about him.

That's fair.

My gym bro is currently getting on my nerves. I'm already used to him doing something fancy after reading a book on lifting. There has been the "I just read SS! I'm low bar-squatting from now on!", the Dan John-era, the Soviet-era, the MWOD-era, the I only do stuff babies do to prepare for my lifting-era and he has also been changing his diet very often. He has been giving me shit for doing flashy exercises or other gimmicks, although I'm much more consistent than he is. I really like him and I'm very glad to have him as gym buddy, but he recently discovered Eat Stop Eat. Now he's trying with all his might to have me do it and hopped on the "A high BMI is bad, even if it's muscle"-bandwagon. Today he ranted about powerlifters that always eat and people wanting to get bigger and bigger. My favorite moment was when he said "I mean, if you eat 1g of protein per pound of BW, that's 150g for a 150lb-lifter! That's more than 700g beef! How can anyone eat so much meat in a day and think that's normal?!"
I have eaten my share of steaks bigger than that, and I will keep doing it. I just hope he discovers something new pretty soon...
When I bought him FIT for his birthday, he wasn't impressed with it. Apparently solid advice is not cool enough...

870 lb Raw Deadlift @ 198 - Belyaev (395@90 kgs):

150g of protein is 550g of steak, which is two larg-ish steaks, eaten over the course of a day. Assuming that steak is somehow the only source of protein, which would be an odd diet.

I used to have a training partner like that. He had been following the program from a coach for a while. Then he dropped it for Sheiko. Went back to the coach. Back to Sheiko. Tried 5/3/1. Then a bodybuilding split. Back to Sheiko. All while on and off different diets to try and lose weight. And so on until he just stopped training altogether. It's really too bad.

Good Morning.

After a long ass weekend away camping in the Brecon Beacon's I am literally fucked.

See any SAS troopers?

When you look at it, 150g of protein really isn't that hard to eat. Few eggs, a shake, couple of meat sources, then incidental protein from nuts, oatmeal or beans etc and you're in the 180g-ish range.

could have been walkers.
