The Pub - Belph's Battle with Anorexia

Fucking terrible. I'm going to be done for awhile. If/when I come back, I am going to come back as a 94.

What the hell happened??

Just inexperience in general but especially at this level. Things were just off. Nothing was heavy but my meet inexperience really showed through.

It wasn't even that I was just upset with myself, it was more that I let my team and coach down because I could have gotten top 5 if I had hit the lifts I am capable of.

Sorry to hear that Jake. Well on the upside, the easy fix is just to do a bunch more meets. You'll get in you're groove.

Thanks, man but, as you know, it happens. I mean, I was far from the only person to lift like garbage.

My coach talked me down last night at dinner, so I'm feeling better. I still am going to take some time off and would still like to start heading towards 94 through the rest of the year, though.

Head up jake. I squeezed into the jake pudz tee over the weekend in support. Im in desperate need of a bigger one though.

Getting swole then Nurse? Hows things been a while since i last saw you on here!

Man, don't be so rough on yourself. Everyone has shit days, weeks, sometimes months. Overall your training and lifting career has been on a solid, positive climb. Your numbers keep on creepin' up. Once you're more comfortable in the high level meet environment your attempts will be much more consistent.

Well, you'll be a big ass 94kg. So, that'll be cool

Its coming along. Im pretty stable at 205-208 these days but I can't fit into a lot of my clothes.

I'll be back after my push pull competition.

I've just always been my own harshest critic. I've definitely come a long way in not a very long amount of time but knowing what I'm capable of and what I've produced leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The best training numbers in the world don't mean anything unless I can replicate them on the platform.

I have plenty of fat to lose and it will only help me move faster, not that that is my problem right now.

The landscape for both 94 and 105 is going to be tough. With Ford coming back, Osorio supposedly moving up, Wilson growing slowing to a 105+, and Spencer being a constant force, 105 is looking to be just as tough as 94.

I've gotten a lot of requests for them but I can't see myself going through the hassle anytime soon. If I make another run of them, I'll let you know, though.

I fall into that trap quite a bit as well. Gotta stay positive though man. Hard to PR shit with a negative mindset. You're a hard worker. Just capacity that crap to death.

Well, I'll be looking to svelt-ass, even faster, Jake at 94kg.

Honestly I haven't kept up too well with the current 94 and 105's. However, the field does appear to be thickening. The other day someone had shown me a video of Pat on a comeback at 105 already snatching something like 170 maybe?

It'll be sometime before my 105 is moving competitive weight so I tend to not pay too much attention.

Well, Pat has snatched like 185 or something with straps but 200-205 clean & jerks seems to be an adventure every time. He won't be lifting for the US, though.

Ian just turned 20 and has snatched 173 in competition and been close at 210, I think.

Any way you look at it, though, US weightlifting is definitely on the rise. Just look at the amount of records broken this weekend.

For sure. Exciting developments over the past couple of years.

Didn't Pat have issues years ago when he was snatching 190+ where he could only do it with straps?? I don't recall correctly.

So Ian is for sure going towards 105+?? Did not know that. He's been on fire as of late.

Definitely the most positive outlook in my lifetime.

That junior CJ record was monstrous. That's competitive internationally. Outstanding shit.

Well, straps were always the excuse, but going from 207 in training to 176 in competition says something else is at play, though.

CJ is a freak and it's going to be exciting to watch him progress.

As for Ian, that's what everyone says. It's just going to be a slow, slow ascent. I mean, I can't imagine that Hassle Free would really have Ian, Donavan, D'Angelo, and Garcia all at 105, all trying for the same international team spots.
