The Pub - Belph's Battle with Anorexia

Whenever I hear the name Emma now, I just think about how the name surged in popularity because it was the name of the baby on "Friends". And how that means that it's common enough to choose a child's name based on a sitcom.

I rent because there is no way I could afford the mortgage on a house similar to which I live in now, for the same price.

But yes, I need to buy soon. Else I'll never own a house outright in retirement, which would suck.

Equity is nice, but doing your own repairs sucks. I have a 40 year old house & things seem to break in bunches. In the past 6 months I've had an upstairs flood that put 2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms out of commission, plus had to replace a dishwasher, pool heater, pool salt cell, whole house water softener & fix a gas leak in the back yard.

Can't complain too much though. At least the weather's nice.

Looking forward to it. Fixing this type of stuff really doesn't bother me. Another huge factor is the lack of quality rental places here-if I wanted to rent I'd be looking at a low end apartment, half of a duplex, or similar. If I could find a nice house to rent I'd consider it but I might as well own it.

You should rent either if you are not sure about committing to 20-30 years of steady work, or if you believe that house prices will decrease. If neither of these hold, you should go nuts.

Nav Canada hires for an entire career, so I am 100% positive I will retire with this company and because it's here, house prices are steady. Haven't drastically changed in 7-8 years and they haven't dropped in at least 15.

I may move to another city, but I'm reasonably sure if I do that I can sell a house without taking a huge hit on it. Plus the type of house I'm looking at goes for low 200k range locally, so the relative cost is very low. $1200 ish mortgage. More than manageable.

These guys are the best hip hop dancers I've seen , I reckon:

Nice shots of London too.

I never sign a lease. And I wouldn't "keep" dogs and chickens. My dogs and chickens would be allowed to run freely, until such a time as I decided to eat them.

You would eat your Dogs? What are you, some kind of Goddamned Communist?!

Belphs gotta be happy LeBron is returning to Cleveland.

Training partner told me yesterday "I keep forgetting you're not 93kg". That felt good.

Does anyone know if a mod can see edit history? I wish I had my original first post in my log back.

Man, I'm stuck watching Arsenio Hall. I'm sorry but he sucks. I remember his original show and now he is back 20 years later to fuck with me. Fuck you, Arsenio. Fuck you dude.
