The best two Nolan films.... which one do you prefer?

I expect this to be close, but for me The Prestige edges it out, due to being more rewatchable and more tight on it's script.

Now this is close and I can't think of an answer at the moment.

The Dark Knight and The Prestige have been my favorite Nolan films for a long time. But every time I watch The Prestige, I like it a little more than the previous watch. Tough call on this one.

I hate TDK, I found it dreary and quite silly. Love the Prestige one of my favourite movies. One of the few movies that I found completely captivating.

I think the prestige is a better movie but it does lose a little once you know the ending. That hurts it's rewatchability a bit. I can watch it every 3 years or so.

The dark Knight isn't as good but I can enjoy watching it every 6 months

I thought both were very overrated. But much preferred TDK. Which says something because I thought it was very far fetched, and I am not a big Batman fan. But I really appreciated the use of game theory.

For sure The Prestige. Overall a genuinely great movie and competing with Memento as Nolan's best. Outside of Joker TDK is mostly boring af. Not really a contest

Prestige. While I'm guessing this is a Nolan thing, Illusionist was a far better movie than Prestige.

The Prestige is a perfect film... Until it falls apart with the whole - 'Tesla Machine Creates A 2nd High Jackman.'

I only saw it once since it was released in theaters until I saw it last year and while watching it I was thinking 'Why did I forget about this film?'
Then it got to the whole Hugh Jackman cloning thing, and I thought 'oh, that's the reason.'

The funny thing is I can forgive A LOT in movies, like with the Superman/Batman film the "Save Martha" "WHY DID YOU SAVE THAT NAME" is absolute cringe... but I actually really enjoy the rest of the movie.. but for some damn reason something so SciFi in a period piece (early 1900s) that was so grounded in reality until that plot-point... Its weirdly unforgivable in an otherwise perfect movie.

I disagree but each to their own.

I YouTube critic I respect, Mauler, who is famous for making obscenely long videos critiquing movies and TV series holds The Prestige in very high regard.

Possibly his favorite movie ever.

But I bet he could pick apart that plot-point if he really wanted to.

It just seems like it wasn't needed, like the writer and Nolan really wanted to shoe-horn Tesla into the plot when it easily could have been worked around.

TDK is probably still my pick for best cape shit film to date.

The Prestige is in my top 5 all time, though. I like how much more rewarding it is upon rewatch

"Money is of no concern"

"Perhaps, but have you considered the cost?:

I agree on this, it's a movie that unfolds very well and holds the rewatches.

don't see what's wrong with the sci-fi element, it's coherent in that timeline

The prestige is way better. TDK has so many issues that get overlooked.
