ok. that's fair i suppose. i only max once every 2-3 weeks. next one will be regular. i just don't like the way my shoulders feel when i fail without the bars to halfdump it on
A rack press is not a OHP anymore than a rack pull is a deadlift. Is it nit picky? Sure. But there are definitely movement standards everyone acknowledges here.
An easy fix to this is to just set your safeties a little lower so that you are starting the press from an unaided standing position.
