The pacing of UFC events is extremely bad.

The main thing I can't handle is that it takes 45mins or more from the start before the first prelim fighter even walks out. That is unacceptable and makes me glad I download and watch the following day, usually.

The first fighter doesn’t walk out until 45 minutes after the announced start time? That’s BS. It’s usually 10-15 minutes.

That's the thing though, it used to be worse. It seemed like WME shortened things up when they bought it.

I don’t think the pacing is bad at all. I’ve been fortunate enough to attend multiple UFC and Bellator events. UFC has their shit together 10x more than Bellator does.

Side note; have you watched any big boxing cards? The pacing is brutal. There have been multiple occasions where you’re waiting an hour + between the co main and main event.

Go in on a skybox with friends. Then you can hang out, bs, do whatever while there’s a lull in the action.
Agreed! And I’m the total opposite of disliking live events. I love the energy. It’s a good time.

Pro wrestling events are much more enjoyable live than UFC events.
Well that's because pro wrestling is not a real sport with legitimate competition, it's a scripted show that's carefully constructed to maximize entertainment value.

There's no good solutions. You need to book enough time in case all fights go to decision. Don't forget stuff like an eye poke can result in 5 minute timeouts.

3rd round finish
45+ minutes break because WMMA
1st round finish
30mins break
1st round finish
40mins break cuz main card is starting

Wtf is this chit? Just watched a Glory event the other day and the pacing is so much better. Same thing is true for many other MMA orgs.

Just missed the entire last fight because I wasn't paying attention after so many long breaks.
UFC on Fox 1 (Cain vs Junior) was awesome. Like an hour/hour and a half buildup. 20 second ko.

Yeah, I remember that. The Fox announcers were pretty disappointed.
At the time I was worried about possible repercussions, but they just made sure to schedule entire cards in the future.

The slow pacing is why I NEVER watch undercards or espn+ cards live anymore. I will only watch on the app after the card is over, and skip thru all the BS.

I can’t imagine sitting around for 5+ hours at an event. At least on tv back in the day, they’d re-air some of the KOs or quick subs from earlier in the evening as filler between fights. Now it’s just commercials, commercials, more commercials, and a bunch of hot air no one cares about.

I can’t even invite friends over for a ufc watch party at my house anymore, because it’s just too long, boring, and drawn-out. You’d think ufc would fix this.

The production is better, the crowd is better and you are pretty much guaranteed to be entertained.

Half the fans at UFC events are drunkard casuals yelling stupid shit

It's gotten to a point where if I watch the preliminaries I'll definitely fall asleep halfway through the main card and then hoping I wake up before the main event
