The pacing of UFC events is extremely bad.

Yeah but when you watch with friends you barely pay attention anyway. Everyone is talking drinking or smoking.

I watch every event with my homeboy, sometimes a few people and we never have an issue with that sir.

Tbf I don't drink and only smoke a little, but we usually only shoot the shit in-between rounds.

Im old and boring though lol.

You guys are more disciplined any time i watch with friends its similar to Rogans fight companion 4 idiots talking over each other and completely ignoring the fights until someone gets knocked out then someone says that came out of nowhere but it never did we just dont pay attention. I dont drink either really much but i do like to smoke.

You should stand tall and tell everyone to shut the fuck up and sit back down like a G... you'd be surprised at the results sir lol.

When you're:
1) a stoned lemur
2) in the company of your homeboy

The slow pacing probably isn't going to bother you that much, sir.

Pacing isn't a major issue in my opinion.

You give 30 minutes for a 3 round fight. Broadcasts have a set start time, and they generally have 3 different start times (Fight Pass prelims, prelims proper, and main card)

If you schedule 2 Fight Pass prelims, you give them an hour. If they're both done in 30 seconds each, you still have to wait until the prelim broadcast starts.

First of all if you had half a brain you would know my username has fuck all to do with weed.

Second of all my friend doesn't drink or smoke so you're literally so far off you my as well take that last step off the cliff sir.

The breaks are because of the early finishes.

Each fight starts on the hour or half hour

When a fight finishes early they put filler until the hour/half hour mark

When you get a bunch of early finishes in a row you get a lot of filler

The only time when there is no filler is on PPV
That is not exactly true. The fights do not begin exactly at the top of the hour or exactly at the half hour mark.

It would be more accurate to say they budget two three-round fights for each hour and they don't put the fights on any faster than that even if they get a bunch of early finishes.

But they do. I know because I skip fights and come back at the 1/2 hour marks and it lines up (majority of the time)

You should try it

and then BKFC on the other hand.. i think 7 of the 8 main card fights ended in 30 seconds to a minute lol

If you just assume every WMMA fight is going to be a split decision like me you win more times than not. I assume they’ll be decisions (of course splits because they’re both equally unskilled) and only if I realize I missed a finish will I go back and watch the ending. For real, there’s never tension in their fights.
Well yeh I'm not defending it. It's a complete waste of time but other people always act like it's a blessing because 15 minutes isn't enough to fucking smoke

It's a good rule of thumb but very much not exact. I've been watching the fights regularly for a few years now and I pay attention to this, but just out of curiosity I went back and looked at the main card from yesterday's Fight Night to see when the fights actually began.

6-fight main card (5 3-rounders, 1 5-rounder), total runtime of the ESPN+ broadcast 2 hours 59 minutes 59 seconds.

Fights (the actual start of the first round) began at:
12:18
30:32
56:17
1:27:59
2:06:47
2:40:16

The biggest thing is the first fight and the last fight started very late.

The first two fights had first-round finishes so both the fights in the second hour started slightly early. If you waited to the half-hour mark you missed out.

Then we got 3 straight decisions followed by a second-round finish.

It's by far and away the best in high level combat sports. Pfl and boxing are far worse
