Welcome to television
It wouldn't be as bad if they didn't run the same commercials constantly. I don't mind ads, but ffs mix it up a bit.
I still have a Papa John's commercial from the Facebook prelim days imprinted in my head
NOBODY DOES IT
LIKE PAPA JOHN'S DOES IT
FOR JUST 14.95 YOU CAN GET A....
that's the only circumstance I have ever heard of this Papa John's place btw

Still better than what anyone else is doing. Most Bellator and PFL cards you wait a good hour between Prelims and the main card with 0 filler the event just ends and you have to go find the new one an hour later....
Thats the thing PFL and Bellator have the wait times as well because most of their early fights are executionsI'd rather have one hour break than having four or five half an hour breaks if there's quick KOs. Main other fighting org I watch is Glory and the pacing is just so much better. I've seen some Bellator stuff but don't think I've ever watched the prelims. So unaware of there being a large break in that case.
I hate it when I’m lounging on my couch watching an event by myself. It’s great when you are drinking with friends
Nah man you use those breaks to shitpost in the PbP thread.
To be fair I did spend some time in the PBP thread last night requesting a certain ass fingering gif.
They slot in each fight to accommodate the maximum possible time (3 or 5 rounds) plus round breaks, plus announcements, commercials, etc, so yeah. It's always been this way, and has nothing to do with ESPN, as Kowboy weirdly just mentioned.
They basically wind up slotting something like 30-35 minutes per fight. Whatever it is, it's obviously a set structure.
9 fights × 15 minutes
1 fight x 25 minutes
Walk outs
Commercials
Interviews
Panel Discussion
Etc etc
Not to mention, most cards these days are more than 10 fights.
The last event I attended was something like 10 years ago, and it was something like 8 hours long. Horrible. Never again.
I remember going to the (first?) UFC in Sweden with Gus vs. Rumble. Think I was in the stadium from 8pm to 4am or something.
Kinda ridiculous when I look back at it but it was kind of a fun experience to have.
