Official Teaser Trailer for THE NAKED GUN Starring Liam Neeson

Only one man has the particular set of skills... to lead Police Squad and save the world! Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. (Liam Neeson) follows in his father's footsteps in THE NAKED GUN, directed by Akiva Schaffer (Saturday Night Live, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping) and from producer Seth MacFarlane (Ted, Family Guy). Joining the case are cast Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, Eddie Yu, with Danny Huston. Only in theatres August 1st.

Is that the bank from Free Guy?

And Neeson is just the wrong guy. He can play the serious guy who thinks he is funny but is not but he has zero goofy acting skills to make his character silly in a fun way. TOns of other talent out there that is capable of doing that but not Neeson.

But the main problem is the writers dont even get their own supposed "jokes" like what you wrote it about the CGI scene. They execute scenes without any comedic timing. Will be horrible. Also Neeson is way older than even Nielsen was back then and it shows.
Agreed on all points. This shit looks terrible.

Another thing is that what made Naked Gun so great is how Nielsen, Kennedy, and everyone else played it straight. There wasn’t a lot of winking at the camera to try and make the jokes land. They just rapid fires joke after joke, sometimes so fast you don’t have time to catch it.

Grew up watching The Naked Gun movies, that being said I'll wait for a 2nd trailer but this first one didn't move the needle much, didn't even know this was being made.

I'll take the opposite approach on Neeson though, he has the dry humor chops to make it work.

I typically enjoy Liam Neelson movies. From the trailer though I'm not so sure I'll be looking to watch this one.

I wish Hollywood would be more creative instead of coming out all the time with sequels.

I think it'd be alright in a stupid, forgettable kind of way, if it wasn't tied to the Naked Gun franchise.

I feel like all of the good jokes were in that trailer.

The Spirit Halloween bit made me chuckle

Holy shit, it looks legitimately terrible. What a bummer.
I dunno don't think it looks that bad . Who knows . It's a spoof film.butvthe fact they qwer spoofing on OJ gotva/few points from me. Not sure I would of gone Liam here though.

It's been 31 years since the last Naked Gun release.
Good Gawd!

Imagine how old you were back then.
I believe I was 11 years old when Naked Gun 33 & 1/3 was released.
I saw it in the theater with my parents. I remember because I had a state report I had to write, which was the big project for 5th graders in my school, and I had of course waited until the last minute to do it. But I took a break and went to the theater anyway.

Honestly, I thought it would look worse. The teaser looked like shit, especially when I compared it to the originals (which are some of my favorite comedies), but this trailer could have been worse. Some of the gags could have come from the originals, and Liam Neeson handles comedy well. I'm not sold on this yet, but my mind is more open now than it was before.

I'm looking forward to it. Got several good laughs during teh trailer.

Not sure what teh resistance here is unless you just don't like that kind of hyper-unrealistic slap-stick comedy... but I think they caught teh comic effect of teh original & will make for some mindless fun & good laughs~

The full trailer had some good gags, but I just hate the way it looks/was filmed. I also see Neeson's delivery of some lines and can imagine Leslie Nielsen doing it and it's just better delivery.
I think it looks decent, but just feels off to me.

From when I first heard about this, I was stoked. However, from the trailer, it looks like they fucked it up. He's not actually supposed to be good at what he does. Damn it, why does every new movie have to look like it's going to suck?!?!?!?!?!

Its just the cash grab culture and artists, dirctours are running ouy of ideas very fast ir they just over think shit way too much.

Exactly how I felt. I think the way to approach this movie will be to sift through and find the jokes that you feel as though they could have been part of the original films. If there are a decent number of those, at least there will be something.
"Says you served 20 years for mans laughter, must have been quite the joke"

<lmao> <lmao> <lmao> <lmao>

I was trying to parse out the jokes that one could envision having been in the original franchise. That one stood out. Could absolutely picture the late, great Nielsen delivering that line.
