So odd. If he had just ripped a few body shots while Izzy had his hands up with his back on the fence that may have put him down. It's possible gas fired his full barrel in that exchange and to have him standing at the end could be discouraging enough to shoot.

It's even more frustrating to watch with the sound on. You can hear the crowd getting hyped, then Cormier says ''Gastelum needs to pour it on!' as Gastelum shoots for a takedown instead. Somehow the sound didn't transfer to Imgur.
 
In that gif Gastelum seems to be chasing him funny.
