The modern day U FIGHT CHEAP fen simply doesnt understand how insane K-1 was

TS was sure in love with the 2000s, talk about living in the past.

Poatan is a special kickboxer...K1 heavyweight GP is usually misunderstood by people outside the KB community. Just because it was more of a spectacle doesn't mean they were better or it was the best test of who was the best. The tournament format is exciting, but people try to use it to prop up guys by looking at their record, when obviously tournaments lead to upsets and have a lot of luck involved.

It doesn't make that much sense to compare the Glory prize fighting era to the K1 GP era.

Poatan is a better striker than most of the guys listed because those guys sucked at MMA. Kickboxing isn't MMA. It's irrelevant who they can out strike in a different rule set, just like it's irrelevant in wondering who would win in table tennis. The fact that Poatan was an elite KB is just a feather in his cap.

Poatan was an elite kickboxer the same way Deontay Wilder was an elite boxer....

In a very weak era with low talent pool and shit fighter pay.

The point is he wouldn't have been elite then. Sorry you missed the party.

Lol Alex and Izzy would have been annihilated by the "smaller" guys. Izzy wasn't more skilled than a single guy from that era who was ranked in the top 20.

Badr, Spong, Saki and Manhoef would have clobbered Poatan and Izzy at their peaks more times than not.

Alex got worker by K1 MAX Artyr Kyshenko man. Imagine him fighting young Badr lol

This isn't even a serious discussion. Let alone these guys chances vs the bigger all time great kickboxers like Aerts, Hug, LeBanner, Hunt, Schilt, LeBanner, Hoost, Bernardo and Greco.
I am not saying they will win but they will be competitive. They are not less skilled than Fujimoto. Badr Hari beat him for the 100 kg belt. Forget about the prestige of K1 and just look at their skillset. You can't pretend they just can't qualify to step in the ring. K1 gets their fighters from regional kickboxing promotions with ABC belts. These fighters fight in smaller K1 tournaments for a world tournament place. They aren't all killers. You don't follow K1 if you believe that.

The first 100kg final 4 man tournament was with Spong, Manhoef, Kyotaro and Saki. The worst fighter out of the bunch won the tournament. K1 is chaotic because of the nature of tournaments and Japanese promoters. You have someone like Kyotaro that can beat Aerts and Saki in 100 kg title fights but will lose to Moose who has less than 10 kickboxing fights.

It's different from the UFC, but yeah, I miss K1.

Now mods please move this thread to another forum.

These kids today think Poatan is something special. I hespect of heem but he wouldn't make it out of that first round in the video above. No dishespect to Poatan, he's awesome as a person and as a fighter but when it comes to world class kickboxing there are levels to this sheet brathers.

These guys like Poatan and Izzy would have been fucked in that era because they were too big for K1 Max and they would have to to bulk up instead of cutting weight and they would have to fight guys like young Badr Hari, Tyron Spong, Gokahn Saki and Manhoef just to have fair size match ups and these fights would be very ugly for Alex and Izzy. Forget about fighting the true elite HWs. Those guys would hurt them bad.

Alex and Izzy had a great kickboxing career in a very weak era of kickboxing. This isn't their fault but their kickboxing titles ain't the same as winning titles in the golden era K-1. Not only is not the same but its not even close.

The reality is Alex lost to K1 MAX (LW) Artyr Kyshenko and Glory MW Artem Levin. These guys are great fighters in their own right but theyre way too small and wouldnt qualify for a K-1 HWGP in those days and yes, struggling against them is a strong indicator you're going to get melted in the peak era of K-1.

The other day I read on here that Poatan is a better striker than prime Mirko Cro Cop lol. Why? because he knocked out Jamal Hill, Kalil Rountree and Jiri? What do you think would happen to them if they fought a peak Mirko, Hoost, Hunt, LeBanner, Ignashov, Remy, Badr etc???

They'd get KTFO the same way. Its no coincidence that Poatans toughest test was another pro kickboxer in Izzy. Hes the only one who could match Poatans skill and actually make reads on him. All the other guys Alex knocked out in the UFC are MMA brawlers who just walked right into his wheelhouse.

Jan is the only one who mixed it up on Alex and grappled and its no coincidence Alex couldn't hurt him nearly as bad as he hurt the others. Listen I like Izzy. I hespect of heem but he wouldn't even be a top 30 kickboxer in the world from 1995-2010.

That's why when you're sitting around glazing these guys you should understand that there was much higher level shit going on before your daddy Den Waitche introduced you to U FIGHT CHEAP.

Great clip. JLB in his prime was my guy...what a beast.

K-1 back in the day was so much fun.

Lmfao...

Imagine comparing two different sports... And thinking you have a point .

U take any of those "golden era guys" and put them in MMA and they will take L's proof being..most of them went to MMA and caught L's by KO too ....Mirko got KOed by Kevin Randleman hahaahah

Your not comparing apples to apples...Alex has an impressive kickboxing career why dont you talk about that instead of his MMA work ya cuz that doesnt fit the narrative lol

This thread is just a nostalgic cluster fuck ...
