Did a black belt line-up today. Idea is you win 2 fights to qualify for the line-up, then you fight 3 other 1st kyu (brown belts) back to back, beat them and get your 1st Dan.

I won 2 qualifying bouts, so got my line-up. Won my first line-up fight, and then for my second fought a friend from the same club as me, he won, so I didn't complete the line-up.

No black-belt for me today but have got 30 points on my card towards it (once you get 100 points you get your 1st Dan)

Back from a week's holiday which acted as a convenient deload. Lots of food consumed and very little activity, weighed 97kg this morning.

Geoff Thompson is a British martial artist with a fearsome reputation. He worked the doors in Coventry for ten years, knocking out around 200 opponents. Geoff is 5th Dan in Karate, with coaching licenses for Muay Thai, Western Boxing and several other martial arts/combat sports.

Geoff said the hardest grading he ever took was his 1st Dan in Judo.

So 'hespect, brother. I've no doubt you'll earn your 1st Dan:cool:

I've read Watch My Back more times than I can remember. I actually got to train with Geoff once. He's an old friend of my Professor.
