Metal/Rock/Industrial The metal thread \m/

Yes, this set was really great ! only chance I ever got to see them.

Mutiilation and early Bethlehem was great, as well as Abyssic hate and of course Burzum for fucked up music that with the exception of Bethelhem and AH only occasionally had a depressive bent before this kind of thing was stylized and packaged for hot topic depressed goths to take over ! (Shining era)

Really I stopped listening to Bethlehem after Reflektionen auf's Sterben but love everything before including that one.

That new one with Onielar singing was really good and I need to take another look at it
oh fuck yeah you were there too? awesome!
its the only time i ever got to see Bethlehem too. i dont believe they tour the USA very often. but im glad i got to see them.
i only like the first 3 albums. i heard a few songs from the newer album and they sounded good, but i havent really sat down and listened to it.
love Mutilation, that whole Les Legions Noire scene in early 1990s France had some damn good black metal come out of there. i really like Belketre and Vlad Tepes too.

I think it's the only time they successful played in USA. It always got cancelled all the other times iirc.

Mutiilation is fucked up shit. No normal person can make music like that

Courtesy of the man quoted, fucking awesome

Also, can’t believe I’m reading guys discussing the legions noir French scene on a karate forum and shit like Paysage dhiver, I had their split with Lunar aurora, and remains of a ruined… by Mutiilation on vinyl and both sold for retarded money

Lunar Aurora shows why German is one of the sickest and most brutal metal languages

Best Machine Head album is the first one. So fucking HEAVY. I see the drummer Chris Kontos all the time. Super cool dude. I've met Rob Flynn a few times too, nice guy as well. From Forbidden, to Vio-Lence, to Machine Head. Solid pedigree, but ya some of the MH albums suck. Blackening was killer as well.

If you're a fan of Chris Kontos check this out he played drums on this album a Danish band called Konkhra. Production is kinda shit but I used to jam this all the time back in da day! I think this is the only album he did with this band. They actually just dropped a new tune and it's pretty banging I'll post that as well.

Reminded me of Pantera..
So whats your guys' thought about Pantera??

Cowboys from hell has rockin riffs and is a really fun metal record.

Vulgar Display of power is the one I listen to the least. I mostly only listen to the last two songs these days. This is a band trying out a new sound but the tough guy posturing is a bit much for this Old Head to sit through.

Far Beyond Driven, OK they found it man, this has it all dark fuckin brooding riffs, neck wrecking stuff. My second fav Pantera Record

The Great Southern Trendkill, the height of the band's powers. Anything that was ever fucking good about this band, all the good ideas they had, they saved for this one. Floods is one big collossal motherfuck of a song, and a perfect ending for the album even though they dont even end the album with it !!!

It's hard to know if that was the right choice. I think they didnt want to end the album on a sombre note, they kinda bring it back to a more upbeat aggressive way to end it. It works !

Reinventing the steel is decent! but its clear they tried to appeal to those who dont like the dark somber stuff on Trendkill and just wanna party and get their pantera on... which is probably where the creative differences between Phil and the rest of the band reached a turning point.
