Metal/Rock/Industrial The metal thread \m/

If you like The Haunted, check out Carnal Forge. another Swedish modern death/thrash band with a re-energized take on the genre.

I say "modern," but this song is from an album that came out in 2001! Ugh I'm old

It's remarkable how metal stays metal. this album could have come out in 2021 and it would not sound out of place to me.

Morbid Angel's frontman Steve Tucker's take on the value of music today ...

I agree with him in part because the big problem is where will the big $$ come in for the artists if they stop producing albums ??? Probably the record companies (if there any left in the future :)) will require artists to dish out more EPs within contract period. I dunno , let's see what happens :)

Dude touring and merch are the main ways artists can make any money. Happy to keep going to shows and buying t shirts.

Sure, but the music mustn't become a surrogate to merch and sponsors , right ?? Otherwise bands might as well go sell cucumbers at the fruit market :):)

yeah, I'm kicking off easter festivities seeing these swedish sickos live tomorrow night

I like The Spearwound Salvation but wish the production was more Destroyer 666 than Darkthrone.
Forgot they did another album, will definitely give it a look. Thanks for bringing them up.

Yeah, no problem, word of warning tho, you can skip them live. One of the worst shows I've been to: Guys were drunk on the verge of passing out , couldn't put two chords together and sounded just like a fucking mess. People were just dissing them in between songs also because they were being idiots and the guitar player threw an empty beer can to the crowd. After barely 30 mins or so they just promptly left the stage. I'm actually surprised they managed to leave unscathed. Fuck them.

Interesting. I have no issue with bands getting loose on stage, but you still need to be able to play your own songs! There's a line that shouldn't be crossed and it sounds like they went well over it. That's a shame.

I listened to the newer album and didn't like it as much as Spearwound so I guess that's that.

Once I didn't care much for Sepulturs, but now I've learned to love this band :)
Max era only! most of everything else is crap although the last two have been a bit better musically. Derrick Green is a terrible vocalist. imho no idea why they stuck with him.

I just finished reading an article in which a few members of Cream, the super group Eric Clapton played in, stated they were one of the first HM bands (!) and they didn't know it !!!! Interesting.....

How did 72 season not leak? Its out tomorrow..

I'm about to give it a listen, will report back.

Cream (as awesome as they were) didn't come across as metal to me in any way, more blues-pop. I think the Beatles wrote the first metal song with Helter Skelter personally, that song is heavy, though the Beatles weren't really metal of course.

Legend has it that first real metal riff was in this song by The Kinks

Not really feeling any of 72 seasons. I listened to the first couple of singles when they came out and let the album play through. Spit out the bone is still their best song in the last 30+ years
