Movies THE MATRIX: RESURRECTIONS (New Trailer)

I guarantee you the majority have not followed that thinking and simply associate blue hair with counter culture in 2021.

And you can't say Goth etc didn't really take off when we're now seeing emo culture getting its "remember when we were emo" hey day.

Ans yes I know emo and Goth are not the same but emo came from it. I used to get my long hair pulled and called emo despite being more on the metal and Goth side of things growing up

But the thing remains...like what is gonna look alternative in 2021?

I cant think of a concert I went to prior lock down where I didn't see multiple girls with blue or green hair, it was a meme like how every show always had a dude in an insect warfare shirt and trucker cap
Nothing is alternative in today’s age.

I remember when emo took off in the early 2000s and they would always clarify they aren't goths, they're emo's lol. It really was mainstream yeah but I never thought I'd see it return, until now. It's a good question what is alternative in 2021, I don't know, I'm too old, but someone young and hip must.

Seems like everyone is trying too hard to be “alternative” these days

Having no tattoos is the new counterculture

I absolutely LOVE where it looks like they're going with this...

...& just in case nobody else has mentioned this... my money'z on Doogie Howser being teh new shell for smith and I think he will absolutely own the role & kill it.

Don't get me wrong... I'll take "V for vendetta" but if teh "Legen... (wait for it) ...dairy" actor wanted to make his fooking mark on show bizz then this is the role that takes him there. If he can replace fooking Elrond in any sort of acceptable way... (which I really really think he can) then he will have cemented himself into "Hollywood's eternally remembered" imo. He's teh new agent Smith yeah? (did you see where he had teh matrix green in his eyes when you played teh trailer back in slow motion?)

Imagine thinking hair dye is a symbol of "wokeness" or anything new at all. People have been dyeing their hair for thousands of years for cultural or appearance reasons and it's been a part of many underground subcultures that existed well before the SJWs a lot of you pee your pants over were more than a load that didn't get busted into a sock. Next thing you know, people in their early 20s are going to start claiming mom jeans and baggy pants as something they started haha.

Every movie, show or game thread, a bunch of little turds whining about "woke" this and "woke" that. Truly weak stuff to whine about.

Couldn't get Laurence Fishbowl back for it?

Too fat or too old to do the stunts probably. Dude looked like he was having 5 meals a day when he was in Hannibal.

Looks awful. Doesn't even look like the matrix.
I'll hold out until I watch it but the trailer doesn't have the feel or look of the original 3.

It looks interesting but they really should have brought Laurence Fishburne back. Discount Morpheus isn't the same.

Also lol at whining about blue hair and wokeness in a movie series from a trans woman that inspired the butch lesbian look of today

It's still part of a trendy look, though. I mean, the grunge scene didn't invent plaid jackets and long greasy hair, and the punk scene didn't invent the mohawk, but during the height of those trends, if someone was rockin' the grunge or punk look, chances are it was intentional. It was trendy. I don't think it's unfair to assume the same things about the woke/sjw look today. While not everyone who dies their hair a bright blue or pink, or whatever, is necessarily doing it for any particular reason, it has become part of the uniform. Same with those colored thick rimmed glasses, that look like they were designed for children.

It's just ironic to complain about wokeness given what was in the first film. From the clothing style to the two female characters being as androgenous as possible.

They also literally visit a fetish night club in one of the movies.

People whining about it now either didn't watch the original movie or weren't caught up in the culture war back then.

Not really. It all comes down to execution. The reason people are so quick to judge these days, is because of the woke culture that has grown to be about as subtle as a sledge hammer to the face. If people didn't notice certain subtle themes of the the original Matrix, it's because it didn't hit people over the head with them, like what you see with a lot of projects today. Not to mention that the "woke" culture itself has become mainstream to a point where a counter culture is rising against it. Much like any other trend, as it becomes more mainstream, it becomes lame.

How does the mere presence of a person with blue hair "hit people over the head" any moreso than what I just described? 2 androgenous lesbian looking characters in BDSM gear doesn't do it for you?

I never said the blue hair was hitting you over the head. I said the movement itself has been hitting people over the head, to the point where people make connections to anything to do with it, like blue hair or those silly thick rimmed glasses.

watched matrix 1 last night. still holds up but im a fan boy.
The amount of things I caught from the new matrix 4 trailer harpening back was pretty cool.
doing two, three and probably the animatrix as well soon

I still have nightmares from those god awful sequels. The first movie is god-tier, but I have to literally block the existence of the sequels out of my head whenever I watch it.

Add to the fact the Wachowskis haven't done anything worth a damn since the first Matrix (okay, Speed Racer was alright), I don't have much faith in this not being shite. It's gonna take more than loads of CGI and nostalgia goggles to win me over.

I'm not sure I would characterize it as a rehash. Its the next iteration of the Matrix isn't it? As in, it always starts and ends in a similar way. Isn't that what the Architect told Neo, that there had already been 7 iterations or something, so Resurrections would be the 8th.

That is a fair point. I am not really up to date on the storyline if I am being honest as I haven't watched the films since they were originally released. The trailer just didn't do much for me, but what you are saying about the story adds an interesting aspect to it.

Does Trinity still have the hot body?

I'm guessing this takes place after the 3rd movie.
