Just retitle it

John Wick 3: Matrix Edition, enough with the fucking dog
 
This could actually be good if done right, but the chances are slim.

It should take place in the same "universe" and not affect the original story.

Also they need to shoot whoever thought about this. I mean hollywood needs to realize they need to scale back budgets and be more original.

Honestly, older, grizzled Neo with reduced superpowers, fighting the machines in a new Matrix after he gets reincarnated as The One again, would watch.

How about just a good entry in the series. Make a 4, but dont call it 4. Could be good, actually. I would write a healthy alliance between humans and machine, with many humans choosing to be hooked into the matrix. Perhaps a new virus\program threatens both the humans and friendlier machines.. The virus/program could be old code/programming that led the matrix to turn against humans in the first place, and there could be a battle between humans and the AI that wishes to honor the agreement, and the program that wishes to infiltrate the matrix and take it over, destroying the agreement.

Somebody give me a deadline.

Rogue one was actually really good. Not great, but for what it was supposed to be, I think it at a minimum met expectations.

I liked Rogue One. I did not know how it was going to end

with the protagonists dying

Felicity Jones does a swell job of carrying that movie as female lead, and I never thought I say that about a female lead. Rogue One is just dark, shockingly.
 
I rewatched the first movie a few months back, it's still pretty amazing. The only way this would be acceptable is if they're making a new storyline unrelated to the original trilogy. Otherwise, fuck off.

They did cover that in the Animatrix movie, although the storyline is interesting enough that a full length movie based on those events wouldn't be a bad idea. Better than a full on reboot at the very least.

The Matrix was my favorite movie for a long time. I'm about as emotionally involved as someone can be but I don't really care. If it sucks I'll just pretend it never happened.
