I ninja edited my post but I said more people seem to like The Mandalorian than any of the Disney woke Str Wars movies. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.
 
I'l say this - in three short 1/2hr or so episodes they have provided more entertainment and depth than the past two (2hr plus) star wars movies.

You actually care about Mando and he, along with baby yoda, are vulnerable. Contrast with the past two star wars movies in which they have a character who has bested her biggest threat without ever having any training. There is no suspense or reason to care about rey - we all know she's going to save the day - because that was established in the first movie (and if all reports are true will be just more of the same in the finale).

Meanwhile, Mando has been beaten up, almost lost and was saved multiple times. You care about a character like that because they mirror real life - we are all apt to have to reach out or get help to get through a tough situation.

As Hamlet said(Shakespeare), "the purpose of playing, whose end, both at the first and now, was and is, to hold, as 'twere, the mirror up to nature, to show virtue her own feature, scorn her own image, and the very age and body of the time his form and pressure."

To no ones surprise more people like The Mandalorian than any of the new/Disney wave of equal opportunity Star Wars movies. Hopefully Farvreau doesn’t cave. We haven’t even seen Gina yet. She could be badass.

Seriously though, I've found this whole commentary strange from the other side of the argument to this side of it. Too many girls... not enough girls... FFS I never noticed anything like that in any movie ever till people started making a thing out of it recently. It just never crossed my mind. Can't we just make a fucking movie with whomever we feel like will create the atmosphere we want... without all this?

That said... it isn't like this is some big movement. It looks like one opinion from a lady that didn't even notice the the blacksmith had dialog in the first episode. <Lmaoo><45><45><Lmaoo>

Not sure what her character will be but it seems like she's a rugged type that just beats people up like every other man in the show

Two of the greatest movies of all time had little to no female presence. Reservoir Dogs and The Usual Suspects. Some movies or shows just don’t need equality to be great.
 
Seems like Gina is going to be on the Mando’s side. Fighting along with him. Hopefully she has enough lines or season two might end up being about her.

She'll be flawless and perfect and kick way more ass than Mando who will be clumsy at her side and fail constantly

This is why the movies suck, and the show rocks. Filoni and Favereau don’t totally disregard the Legends tales.
