Movies THE LIGHTHOUSE (starring Willem Dafoe & Batman)

It sort of comes off as a lost film, which again really compliments the theme of being isolated and forgotten.

Yeah I'm looking to buy the Witch now with basically the exact same mindset. Sounds pretty similar in its approach.

Sort of similar but I would say The Witch is a lot more straight forward horror and more easily enjoyable in that way. It's not nearly as murky as The Lighthouse.

I got some shrooms today just to watch this. Super stoked for it.
 
Watched the lighthouse yesterday. I enjoyed the movie, better than 95% of movies I have watched lately. Would recommend.

Never seen the Witch so gonna have to give that one a gander.

The Vanishing is another good lighthouse movie

Was expecting some top grade Lovecraftian horror and got mostly Dafoe yelling and Pattinson walking around confused.

Not the worst movie - just not what I was expecting going in.

Honestly that's about as faithful of a Lovecraft movie as it gets. Seaside setting, descent in to madness, old abandoned gods, unreliable narrator, gloomy ending, and just a touch of body horror and tentacled monsters.

I felt they needed to at least show some more tentacle -- too much of a tease imo.

I guess I wanted more Mouth of Madness type of movie.

No doubt. I actually think this movie will be forgotten pretty quickly though. Too many people hate it. Im not gonna watch it again or recommend it. I enjoyed it, but it lacks alot of qualities that make a movie universally loved.

Apparently there's like 3 other movies in the last 5 years with the same name. One of them pretty highly reviewed with a very similar plot

Wonder if this got leaked in Hollywood circles

Yeah well one is 6/10. The lighthouse only is 7/10 on IMDB for whatever that is worth

And they all are the same story basically. Im not saying that means anything good or bad about Lighthouse2019.. I just noticed it and found it interesting.
 
For those that have seen Star Wars: The Last Jedi, I want to see Lighthouse with Luke and Yoda.

a 5.2/10 = a 6/10 but a 7.6/10 = a 7/10

not that imdb scores mean anything since it’s a bunch of jabronis rating things
 
We watched this and my wife was expecting some strange seashore version of Brokeback Mountain after 15 mins. I was expecting a subtler version of Cold Skin...
 
I just have one question and it might be stupid but.. At the end when Twilight falls down the lighthouse staircase and it cuts to black, how does he end up on the rocks outside the lighthouse?
