Movies THE LIGHTHOUSE (starring Willem Dafoe & Batman)

Man I REALLY want to see this but it's not running in any cinemas here and there's only cam versions online...

Don’t watch a cam of this, that’d be a travesty. Better even to wait than to see it like that imo.

really disappointed this had such a limited theater run around me; was hoping to go see it a second time but it’s already been bumped.

This might be one of those where they re-release it after the initial limited run. We’ll see...

I wanna watch it.. I just can't bring myself to watch a twilight dude movie.

Why though? TwilIght is just one single teeny bopper franchise that has no real bearing on RP’s current work. He’s quickly becoming one of the best and most sought after actors in Hollywood.

Its like not wanting to watch a Heath Ledger movie because he once starred in Brokeback Mountain. Or it’s like not wanting to watch a Ryan Gosling movie because he once starred in the Note Book, even though he killed it in Drive and Blade Runner.

Do yourself a favour and just allow yourself to be exposed to great movies with great performances.

Man I had to bump this to see if we can get more discussion on this movie. I didnt hate it and it had some great performances. At the end though, All I could think of was what was the point of the movie? At least the witch went somewhere towards the end. This was just Vague...I remember watching "a killing of a sacred deer" and hating it at first. I kept on thinking about it though after watching the movie like "what did this mean or symbolize?" This movie just makes me think, what the hell was the point?" Why was Defoe clean again after getting buried? It was just a WTF movie and Im wondering why it was so critically acclaimed recently. Artsy movies still need to have a sense of purpose.

So Robert Pattinson is a respectable actor now?

what does this even mean? is having an interesting story to tell that blends various examples of sailor folklore & tropes not a good enough purpose? how about making a film as an ode to older cinema? those two things alone sound like “purpose” enough to me.

Both this and KOASD are based on Greek tragedies so you are correct in comparing them. For what it's worth, I liked KOASD much more than the Lighthouse although the LH has its merits for sure.

Rewatched The Witch last night and goddamn it got me hyped for this. This was the second time I’ve watched it and I liked it even more this time. I’d forgotten just enough for there to still be some moments that caught me off guard. It’s still unsettling from start to finish and it’s moving its way up on my favorite horror movie list.

The scene when the boy is possessed is like the best acting I've ever seen from a kid

Didnt mean to insult your taste in cinema. All the symoblism didnt really mean anything in this movie. Its one thing if the mermaid symobolized his dead wife or something. What was with the octopus tentacles in the lighthouse? They were just there to show he was going crazy? If thats the case, cool. It was a well directed and acted movie, I just didnt enjoy where the story went or really feel any sense of uneasiness like your supposed to in these films. The witch and Killing of a sacred deer had a much better and tenser atmosphere. Defoe is pretty awesome though.

Just started it and saw this thread. Had I known this was by the dude who did the witch I would have picked zombieland 2, but hopefully it's better than that nonsense

Well I just watched it........it was something. Cant say I "liked" it but it was certainly an experience so I dont regret watching it

Just watched it.

Damn. What an original movie

Soo many 1 star reviews on IMDb. I love the sailor folklore and the Greek mythology. They were cirens (sp?). The evil mermaids

I didn't know if Tom Wake was even real? I thought for the whole movie he wasent.. damn this movie hurts my head.

A little too artsy for me, but very original and clearly extremely well thought out and deep.

You just need to know what you're getting into. If you dont know alot about history and Greek gods, sailor folklore and shit you're gonna be confused as a mother fucker.

Robert Pattinson is leaving little to the imagination.

The 33-year-old actor recalled the "ferocious masturbation scene" he did for his new movie The Lighthouse during an interview with The New York Times published Thursday

that is up for debate but his place amongst the most elite ferocious masturbators is unquestioned.

Dude had to keep those Twilight fangirls off of him somehow.

It's probably because both guys were bat shit crazy from paranoia, horniess and home made booze they have been drinking non stop. Every irrationl actions from the charactors towards the end can pretty much be explained by the this.

This was such an amazing movie, it’s like the movie equivalent of getting stabbed in the stomach, and that’s a good thing.
