I think it has to get into your system or bloodstream and gestate. It's not quite like The Thing in which touching the cells themselves make you a goner. Either a bite, or ingesting grain that has the fungus

Kind of a meh episode. Dina is insufferable. Even more so than Ellie herself. I thought they were supposed to be best friends? They were so awkward and cringe with each other...their relationship made no sense in a "bff" kind of way.

I thought Ellie was horribly miscast at first, but I think Bella Ramsey has done a great job winning me over. She's a very good actress.

I think Bella Ramsey is good as Ellie. Ellie's face being attractive or not wasn't important to the game.

Also, having played both games and liked both games, I don't mind if they make changes. This is Last of Us the tv show, it doesn't have to be Last of Us the live action exact rendition of the video games. In either game you spend a lot of time just hiding or scavenging, it's not like they will put that shit in there.

Also, to the person who said she's obnoxious for 19 and would have understood if she was 13-16... She may be a bit stunted in behavioral development, she's not had a normal social/family life even for the time she lives in.

I enjoyed the episode, the stalker scene was awesome.

I agree that there were better choices but they went with what they went with, and Ramsey is doing an amazing job.

I try to just get it out of my head that anyone is going to look like anyone from the game. When I first saw the movie version of Escaflowne it was really difficult for me to appreciate the different spin that they were going for until I put all the characters' histories and personalities from the show behind me.

The only thing that I thought was outright ridiculous in this first episode was Ellie beating that gigantic dude in jiujitsu. It's not even remotely feasible. I'm a blue belt and my single victory over a black belt was when they had me roll with a girl. She put me in an armbar and I just curled out of it easily, and won when she just wore herself out. I am barely over half that dude's size, he could have just picked her up, lock and all, and slammed her with ease.

I found that funny too. Also, him saying he pulled his punch. Even if he pulled a punch a dude that big is going to crack hard and a small girl like her would be ko'd easily.

They definitely could have used a smaller guy. I get that they were trying to show she's tough/hardened but that guy looked like a bruiser

If they are going to keep doing that they have to say the bite made her stronger or something. You can’t give up 100 pounds of muscle to someone. It’s tv so you have to give a bit but that’s almost harder to believe than zombies

I was a purple (new) and there was some big guy (looked like a body builder) and it was really hard to get anything on him as he would just power out - granted I was older and kinda of a sucky purple.
