The Interim Title is an insult to Frankie and Aldo imo

UFC has gone full retard imo. If they want to be purely entertainment based, that's fine, but do the following: 1) state that unequivocally, and 2) fuck off with the ranking systems. It means nothing.

It's brilliant.

Aldo deserves that shit, he was calling Conor's interim belt a meaningless toy, a joke.

Well, now you're the one fighting for the toy belt, Aldo, because Conor won't fight you, just like you didn't fight him.

Wow... You know it's a ridiculous analogy. Yet, you did it anyway. Or maybe you really are that far out of touch with reality.

Aldo or Edgar win and conor cannot make weight in the future - Instant champion and they get a superfight as well

Frankie Edgar has been a champion for awhile and defended his title-3 times and defeated alot of top contenders since then but giving him an interim title fight is just a no-no for all the things he has achieved. While offering interim title on the same card as McG.

Jose Aldo lost to McG but fuck me that was a fluke fight and even more of a fluke then JDS vs Cain 1 or GSP-Serra 1 because this one ended quicker and lets be honest there was no fight. A punch landed thats all that can be said. A dominant champ for years and defended his title 7-times no rematch given or considered then offered an Interim title on the same card as McGregor.

Since McG-siver things have turned into a freak show and why the hell was Dana at Conor's house saying he was a guy who did this or that but rejected and insulted his long time champs and offered them a lowly interim while they have worked and deserve respect

I'm not a grammar nazi but people who don't know the difference between then and than annoy fuck out of me.

Changes the whole context of the sentence and pulls you out of your train of thought.

It does look stupid, having Conor literally fighting on the same card. I am just glad they are fighting for something considering the hold Conor has on the UFC's balls at the moment. It sets up some good shit talking as well, they can say they are the real champion and he is scared.

I think Interim titles, in general, are crap.

It's especially so for this instance. Conor isn't not defending his title due to injury, he's just plain refusing to defend his title. As with boxing if you refuse to defend it you're stripped of it.

Conor (and Dana) is looking at the payday over defending his title, and that's 100% completely fine if that's what he wants to do, but in choosing the payday he should be stripped of the title. Not to mention that he's going to have one hell of a time getting back to 145 after this fight, as odds are he'll work to put decent weight on so he's not at a disadvantage.

Is he refusing? Or do the UFC just want the PPV millions that McGregor v Diaz II will bring?

AS for the interim, it sorts out aldo and frankie and their seperate claims for a title shot, fight each other, Frankie despatches Jose and we get Frankie v McGregor in either New York or Dublin in the Autumn...

It will all work out, unless you are an Aldo fan

It's not a comparison either, bro.

Holy fuck. You just compared two situations. I'm sorry, but I apparently can't dumb it down to the point where you will comprehend it.

Either way. Im done with you, and the thread. Have a nice day.

I don;t know that it is an insult.

An interim belt just doesn't make sense in this situation. Conor won the belt a few months ago. After Diaz beats him again I am sure he will fight again at 145 within the year.

No need at all for an interim belt yet.
Regardless of what Dana says I don't think the rest of us can say with any surety that Conor is coming back down to 145. There's just too many permutations to all of this.

What they can do when the 'real' champ is ducking them.....

Conor is just another coward... obsessed?? I would say you are dickless !!!

Aldo had a year off, and called McGregor's interim title a 'toy'. It'll be interesting to see what he makes of this.

oh merciful god. Sherdog gets so dramatic.

At the end of the day, there's nothing wrong with this fight. Both will have to fight anyway, we all want to see it, the winner still gets all the nice stuff that comes with being a Champion, the winner is guaranteed the next title shot and gets on two high-selling, heavily promoted PPVs.

They're getting paid. They're getting promoted. They're getting big fights. They're solidifying their positions as the best.

Don not forget that Conor defended/won his FW-belt not a long time ago: December. They could have waited on the sideline for Septembet/october fight against Conor. Just look how many times Aldo has pulled out the recent years.

The featherweight division will be killed by the end of 2015.

You have become like a broken record how about you come with a better argument. ppl who have worked hard for yrs are getting robbed. So it's only logical to point it out.

btw forums are made for sharing opinions and stop crying yourself just because we don't share your opinion
"People who have worked hard for years are getting robbed" lmao you one of these guys are you. Like your actuallyfriends with some of the fighters lmao. Who gives a fuck, ufc was made to enjoy, be entertained by it. Don't get emotionally involved like a bitch.

You are really stretching the facts here: Frankie defended his title in a rematch against BJ Penn, drew against Maynard in his second title defense and won in the rematch. He held the title for 18 months but only fought 2 guys and only won 2 of the 3 defenses - hardly a dominant champ. Since then he has defeated one top contender (Chad Mendes), that hardly counts as "alot".

Either way, by your post it seems like you feel that Edgar and Aldo deserve a title shot equally much, so what is more logical than for them to fight eachother to determine the no. 1 contender?
