The Guns & Worker party

Time spent is not a one-to-one measure of utility.

I spend a lot more time posting on Sherdog than I do at the doctor's office. That doesn't mean that I "need" my Sherdog account more than my health insurance.

Yeah, unions protect some sub-par employees. However, they also make sure that we ALL don't get paid shit.
That is a false equivalence and you know it. I'm talking about my time as a Union officer. Not how I waste time vs how I spend time to ensure I'm healthy.
I recognise more than most the importance of Labour unions, I've spent a very long time working in one, helped unionise departments, done initial bargaining, continued bargaining, kept collectives from falling apart, etc. But the wasted time on the useless cannot be understated. The only reason it doesn't get discussed more openly is because a huge chunk of Labour types want to fight the company for the sake of fighting. Like with most things I'm a centrist, I prefer to fight for what's right, not just for the fight.

Why should I not have the right to work though? Why should a union forbid me from working for a company without paying them?

I am an adult, and I should be able to work wherever I want without being beholden to a union.

It's my golf course. It is a private golf course.

You must be a member in good standing to play on my golf course.

Are you stupid? How does that have anything to do with unions getting in the way of people trying to work for a company?

We need the alt-center....We need to unite the people.

We need to show them that both sides are radical elitist who are splitting them over non-issues like guns,terrorism,etc...That they are using fear tactics that will never affect them but corporate welfare, lobbyist, etc is what truly fucks them over.

I don't even think the party needs to be pro-gun............just literally say, that focusing on guns and wasting political power on it, is pointless...lets focus on real shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like getting rid of poverty and stopping corporate welfare.

I agree with everything you said.

I don't think I was making a false equivalence; maybe just a silly/sloppy metaphor.

My point is that the BS that comes along with unions is worth it when you look at all the benefits. I'm not trying to suggest that there isn't BS or that it can't be infuriating.

Because I got with a group of workers, and used my leverage to get the company to sign a contract that requires union membership to work there.

Hence, it is a private golf course. John Q. Public is not welcome to work here.
