The greatest nation on earth

You ever been to America?

No but I am talking stats and facts. I am not talking about experiences I had there. It eliminates the bias. Plus we all get the same news its not like your there when all the crap goes down like the massacres. So were both getting the information under the same circumstances.

Well are military would defeat any others on this planet, so I guess we have that. LOL at the person who will inevitably quote me and say otherwise.

I myself would probably do better in Canada. I like hunting and not a lot of people. I believe in socialized medicine and decriminalization of weed.

Other then military though.. IDK. We really don't lead in anything else do we? As you can see here I am pretty subjective. It's really hard for me to imagine other countries being superior at all in any area. A subjective guy like me is telling you this. I just can't picture it and I know I'm wrong. That's how brainwashed we all are. Just sayin...

As far as WW2. I won't go to much into it other then to say, Britain was toast without us. Not just us going to Britain but the non stop aid we provided them. Also, people seriously, seriously underrate the fact we took out Japan on a separate front.

Ok, you've established that the Germans clearly made the wrong decision in attacking the USSR, and that the Soviets were ill equipped. Will you agree that the Soviets fought a considerably larger percentage of the German/Axis forces in the European theater of war by a margin of around 60%-80% depending on the year? And in doing so that they essentially played a larger role in the EUROPEAN theater of war?

This isn't on the table for discussion nor has it ever been as far as my end of this conversation is concerend -it is a fact that they did.

It is also a fact that before the US got involved and the UK started to recover a bit Russia was getting their fucking asses handed right the fuck to them.

Don't think for even a second that having the UK and America aide on the other end conducting air raid after air raid knocking out German factories that supplied the German front lines all over the map had nothing at all to do with fucking up German supply lines thus rendering them in bad fucking shape to contiue fighting on multiple fronts.

I wouldn't be so sure about taking on China. With the debt how long would a war last against an economically superior country with a competitive military.

Why not? Our military is still far more advanced than theirs is, our navy is over twice the size of theirs -the battle fleet tonnage of the USN is greater than the next 13 largest navies combined- and we would have an entire country with which to set up shop right next to them in Japan and countless other countries strategically located right fucking next to them to attack from multiple directions at ease. Currently, going to war with the US would be an absolute nightmare for anyone in the world 1 on 1, even China. I can't think of a single country that could currently fight a conventional war against us right now and even come close.

And before any asshats start screaming 'Vietnam!!!' from their dingy keyboards -we never truly declared war on them, and for every 1 Amercian soldier they killed, over 20 of theirs died.

Couple of things wrong with this.

1. The US still has the largest econmoy in the world and is projected to continue to do so for at least a few more years.

2. China is heavily invested in our economy, so if ours gets hit hard enough, so will theirs. And our country still has the factories and able bodied workers to bring industry back here for mass production if it were needed, as is, it is alread trickling back. We are short on a shit ton of people with experience, but we have overcome that obstacle before (see WWII for a good example of this)

3. As for China having a competetive military with the US.. where would you be getting that information from exactly? They may be able to play the numbers game but as far as we actually know, they are no where near as advanced as we are. And again, theres the very big problem of our Navy being twice as large as theirs, and our air force owns the largest number of warplanes in the world -which almost equals to the rest of the worlds airforces combined.

And there is still that very crucial problem of the US having multiple attack sites located right on their doorstep.

Also Americans have been the Mid East killing more civilians than terrorists

Thats because we eradicated their armies so fast there hasn't been anything else for them to do over there.

America, FUCK YEAH!!!!

haha.. that is awesome

The greatest nation would have to possess these traits at the highest level
Education
Population Control
Jobs
Defense
Non Warring
No Corruption
Eliminate all nations that don't exceed these guidelines. :icon_chee

You keep talking about what the US or the UK did to alleviate the pressure of the European Axis forces on the Soviets, but what about the what the Soviets did to alleviate the pressure on the Western Allies? Like keeping over 4 million soldiers off of their front. Another thing I don't understand is how the Soviet losses have anything to do with their overall contribution to the war effort. You don't have to bring it up every time, I'm completely aware of how horribly the Soviets were beaten back in the early stages of the war. But that means absolutely nothing when you talk about what they were able to accomplish and contribute in the grand scheme.

Because you have yet to recognize it. I have many times over stated that the UK, America and Russia all played a huge roll combined. Why the fuck should I have to repeat it to someomne who seems to only ackowledge that Russia was the only player on the western front?

I am also mentioning it because imo, Russia is soundly defeated and conquered had the UK and the US not intervened. The UK would have fallen either next or around the same time as Russia had the US not got involved when they did -and who knows how long it takes the US to fall fighting a war on its own soil from multiple fronts.

When I jumped in this thread it was initially to pull the reins in on everyone typing as loud as they could that Russia was the real MVP of WWII, which is complete bullshit. I didn't come in here to argue over table scrap details with you, tho thats what this has turned in to.

US and UK attacks on German wartime factories no doubt played an important factor in slowing the German advance. In regards to your comment that the Soviets would've lost without US or UK assistance, do you mean that had D-Day not occurred the Soviets would've lost the war?

It is my opinion that without UK and US help that the Axis most likely wins, yes. Also keep in mind Japan and Russia had a treaty that was being honored (most likely under false pretense) if the US doesn't get involved, there is no one to keep Japan occupied from eventually coming at the Russians as well (if the Germans had asked for the help).

Its all speculation. It hurt the Russians in the begining to adopt a defensive strategy early in the war, but the Russian winter stalling the German attack combined with the Russians being given some time to formulate a proper offensive along with Allied attacks from the south helped put heavy burdens on the German ranks.

Bottom line is, without some really bad decision making on ther Germans part to invade Russia before locking up the Brits and all but securing Europe, we might all be speaking a combination of German and Japanese. One of the things the US had going for it on its own soil tho was the 2nd amendment -the Axis had plans to invade the US supposedly from NYC and Mexico -the 2nd amendment was heavily discussed by them.

It was 100% a combined effort that won the war, and I'll never deny that. I do think that a special mention should be made when a discussion of the war is brought up of the monumental struggle and sacrifice the people of the USSR made. Its frustrating to hear people say "We won because of the success of the D-Day landings" when its not the truth. The Battle of Stalingrad is widely recognized as one of the most decisive, if not the most decisive battle in the entire war. After it, the Germans were in a near constant state of retreat on the Eastern Front until the end of the war in 1945. Stalingrad ended in early 1943 and D-Day didn't happen until late 1944. When D-Day happened, the Soviets had already been building momentum and essentially winning the war on their front for well over a year. But again, it was a joint effort and it should be remembered that way.

Yeah I am actually not against America even thou it seems like it. You make some good points. But China would be less careful about troops dying which makes them even more dangerous and combine that with numbers they would be a dangerous foe.
Also all the surrounding countries around China would want to defend their borders and probably back China.

I can agree with a decent amount of this. Russia deserves credit for sure, but so do all the Allies, everyone played a big role.

Stalingrad ended in early 1943 and D-Day didn't happen until late 1944.

Yeah, I saw what you did there -thats why I worded my response carefuly. Stalingrad was a clusterfuck for the Germans after they bombed the shit out of it not counting on the buildings in the city staying intact structurally creating tons of sniper nests and natural mini fortifications for the Russian to use in defense of it. I could go on and on about Stalingrad, but I won't.

I love talking about this shit, especially all the 'what ifs' involved in WWII. Its a great war to study if you're inot that sort of thing. This has been fun, and fairly insightful as well on both ends.

Its scary to think that the US could literally declare war on the entire civilized world and have the power to possibly pull it off. Its almost comical when you take a look at how large our Airforce and navy are.

In many ways it is the greatest country on earth. Why do you care?

I'm so sick of seeing people complain. I just spent a couple of minutes watching a fucking whine fest on Reddit. Thank god we don't have upvotes on Sherdog.

Take it down a notch Phil, I got this

please tell me this last part was a joke or something
even in some sort of 'no nukes allowed war' the u.s loses and loses horribly in that scenario. Largest military on earth yes but fuck me vs the entire world ? come on now

Other countries contributed their Fathers, Sons, Mothers, Daughters, Aunties, Uncles, Brothers, Sisters.

You ignorant pr!ck.

Hey buddy. That thing you are using now... the internet? That was created in America. Show some respect or we will "liberate" your country.

Agamemnon stop with those biased sh/t please.
Why are you starting to write nonsense, when put in a bad spot?
"The germans made nests in Stalingrad for the soviets and that's why they won the battle of Stalingrad."
You are not coming with any real arguments against the thesys that the Soviet Union was the main force to stop the german conquest of the world.

Probably not a good idea for you to involve yourself in a debate being conducted in the English language if English isn't your 1st language.

Merry Christmas.
