Crime The Gabby Petito case.

No he isn't Chris Watts, he didn't kill his wife and kids. He killed his girl, which is pretty common. Lots of black and hispanic girls get killed by their boyfriends/fiances/husbands.

She's in the news because she's a moderately attractive white girl. White girls in distress is ratings gold in America.

Ya that plus the mystery of what happened to a social media travel influencer during one of her travel blogs that many people followed. Plus the strange situation with her bf going silent and then “missing”. Plus the police body cam footage right before she went missing adding to the mystery…. But I’m sure it’s all actually because shes white

On to more important news….. the fucking 911 call says that HE was hitting HER. Why wasn’t this reported at all in the news? Why did the cops downplay this fact during the filmed incident ?

No, it wouldn't be wall to wall news if they were both black. Guaranteed.

This is a well studied phenomenon, white female victims get more attention: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missing_white_woman_syndrome

Thats a cold hard fact. The only thing up for debate is why that is.

The victim must also be relatively attractive. Media recognizes what their customers want and meet that demand. An attractive white woman that isn't poor has no expectation of going missing and ending up dead in the woods. That shattered expectation drives interest and the media must cater to their audience.

meanwhile women get beat, killed by domestic violence all the time... sad story.. but this is nothing more then a media money grab... whatever gets the views and clicks right??? RIP to that woman
The vast majority of open and shut cases of murder don’t get covered because there is no intrigue or mystery or debate involved. If he just killed her and then was immediately caught, I doubt this would be a big story. And I blame media for lots of scummy tactics, but I can’t blame them on this one seeing as I’ve clicked on damn near every article I’ve come across in last few days. Plus this is a case where getting national exposure could possibly help solve the crime and bring justice. I mean they found her body because you tubers recognized the van/location/time frame from what they saw in the media and went back and checked their own video footage

I don’t read any cnn or Reddit. But I’m not even sure what you’re disagreeing with me over. I said it gets clicks and why that is and your response is “it gets clicks”…yeah I know , that’s what I said

She wasn’t really an influencer of any note, let’s not pretend she was important, she wasn’t. And the police video came out well after she got attention.

its hilarious how defensive white people get about the basic fact that white victims get more media attention. That’s an objective fact, stop being so damn sensitive.

True, attractive white woman goes missing or is murdered and it’s a man bites dog story. Middle/upper class educated white woman especially. Everyone expects misfortune to follow the poors and the blacks, but such things aren’t supposed to happen to innocent rich white girls.

Browing their social media and youtube channel portrays them in an interesting light when contrasted with the domestic call. A lot of recent posts gushing over each other. Seems like puppy love. Maybe a curated view of their life. For those interested, their youtube channel:

You just used subjective points to disagree with me

“Wasn’t an influencer of any note”
“She wasn’t important”

I can do that too:
She was important to many people
She was an influencer of note to many people

The fact that she was attractive is likely part of her coverage and I’ll even give you that her being white (part of the majority in this country) added to it. All of the dipshits claiming those are the only reasons are where I have to disagree

Lol no. That was definitely the case back in the day, but this isnt the 90s anymore.

Look at George Floyd for example. Race is the hot topic. This is the first time Ive seen national news on a crime committed against a young white girl in years.

The reason this is large news is because of It trending on Tik Tok.

lmao missing/dead white woman is a news media trope at this point dude, i don't know why you're pretending it's not. i'm not saying moosaev is 100% right or anything but white women and white children plus tragedy = a media goldmine in this country. always has.

How do you explain the chick in Iowa, Mollie Tibbets, getting all the media attention she did? You guys are stretching for all sorts of reasons to avoid confronting the real one. TikTok is just another medium, it’s not the root cause of anything.

Never heard of her.

meanwhile

Moosaev:

"The media only cares about Whte women being murdered"

Meanwhile:

Also, yes Moosaev, social media influences many things, this isnt breaking information.

Take your tinfoil hat off, bud

Why because the media spelled it out for you, hook-line-sinker

I'm starting to recognize a pattern with some of you here in the wR. Even if he did it, conviction based on "he went out on a boat and she was found in the water" is flimsy especially when you factor in how much the media and police talked about the lake before the body was even found.

Giving ample opportunity for anybody else that killed her to just drop her in that part of the lake and get off scott free.
Who is Scott Free? Is that some completely different guy who took killed her and then dumped her body in the same bay Scott Peterson was boating in?

Who else initially thought this whole event may end up on Mr. Ballen... people that disappearing at National Parks?

I think the way they portrayed themselves on social media/YouTube is just another example of how people can create idealistic internet personas while hiding any semblance of flaws.

In this case, I read that she called off their engagement before the trip but they went on the trip together still to develop their channel. To me, that seems odd.

With that said, I have no desire to watch any of their old videos. That seems too morbid at this point.
