I like the guy but that lack of a top level ground game leaves him exposed. If he can get a serious takedown defense, then maybe he can minimize the problem.

That's a fight he'll be happy to avoid, in fact I'm glad Tuivasa seems to have skipped over him to Lewis, Blaydes is a shocker of a matchup for a lot of HWs.

Yes if I was him I would go up 10lbs to 260lbs he is so lean now it shouldnt hurt or make him fat. The added weight if done properly will help as will namely the strength. Change of stance and heavy grappling.

Alternatively he could try to be like Adesanya or Machida whose footwork and running game are so good it helps them avoid the exchange that could lead to grappling

Conor didnt seem to take grappling training serious. Too big of an ego and was weaker than a lot of LWs he face he got overpowered. Chad Mendes is stronger than him if you recall and threw him to the floor easy.

I'm sure many people wrote Ngannou off after how useless he looked on his back in the first Stipe fight, it's foolish for anyone to dismiss Gane at this point. I'm sure he's going to level his grappling up significantly over the next few fights.
