Indie The First Berseker: Khazan

He's one of the hardest for sure. If you can beat him on normal you can beat the rest of the game on normal. He's the only one that seriously made me consider dropping difficulty. I'm glad I didn't though because I think the following bosses afterwards aren't as bad. There is a patch now that lets you switch between easy and normal freely. Not sure if it punishes you for getting the trophy.
I’ve been getting him pretty consistently to his second sword phase but by that time I’m busted up and out of heals so it’s just a matter of time before I get caught

Killed the spider and got the blacksmith. If this is an "easy" boss like I've read I'm in trouble.

I read if you blow up the dynamite he stops crawling into the holes and regenerating but I did and nothing changed. Oh well still got him.

Beat Ozma finally. A fantastic final boss, took me several hours but was worth it. Got 54/58 trophies. I'll probably just do the remaining on my PS Portal. Got to hunt down the final soulstones and jars. 9 out 10 game for me. Really enjoyed it from start to finish. Looking forward to seeing what this May DLC is about.
Be sure to spoiler final boss name or anything otherwise significant, please. We can prefix our Spoilers tag to discussion too if everyone wants to talk openly about everything. Either way is fine. Thanks.

Ah okay I just thought since it's so obvious based on him being in the intro trailer and the fact that you collect his notes that it wasn't much of a spoiler but I'll be more careful.

There's more than one location. All you did was prevent him from going in one hole but there are other holes that you can cover up. Probably just missed one during your playthrough. It's okay, I did too. At least you still made it a little easier.

You can also Javelin her ass off the wall once she gets to crawling.

Alright, Maluca dead.

I started to love parts of the second phase. Felt straight out of Sekiro during some of the parry attacks. What really turned the tide was getting the timing down on his charge attack. Once I got that it was just a matter of playing clean. The heath regen was just ridiculous though. Felt hard enough without that, thankfully it was rare.

Pry took about 2.5 hours or so but damn that rush after beating him solidifies why I play these games. Never felt once like I was just throwing myself up against a wall. Progress was made just about every attempt.

Took me about 5 hours for the true ending. Probably twice as long as any other souls boss, and I’ve played/beaten all of the well known ones. As tough as this fight was, I never once felt frustrated and it is a fair fight. If I died it’s because I fucked up. I could no hit his first phase within an hour, but the change of pace for phase 2 was a real issue for me.

It’s also an absolutely incredible fight though, right up there with Isshin from Sekiro for me. Absolutely worthy of being the final boss in this game

Shactuka was awesome, really dig those hyper aggressive fights.

Am I even close to ending this? I’m 30 hours in and it doesn’t feel like I am.

16 main missions. If I recall correctly the one you just beat is mission 9 so you should have 6 left. If you play around 90 minutes per day you should be able to beat it before Doom

Finally got some time to play and finished off Maluca. Honestly didn't find him that difficult. Get behind and stay aggressive first phase, reflection on charge attacks and that stupid 9 hit combo, avoid the grab, throw in a little fire damage....easy peasy.

The reflection on his charges totally busts that fight if you can get the timing down. Really is the key. First phase is trivial.

I always find it funny in souls games to see what gets to some and doesn’t get to others. Some person’s breeze through is another person’s hell.

Yeah, the perk that negates damage while attempting a reflection is an absolute game changer.

Is it just me or does there seem to be a hidden gauge of some sort where his stamina decreases more if you had it down recently. For example, you connect on a reflection, stamina goes down 30%, he then recovers it fully but the next reflection it goes down 60%. Does that make sense?

You guys are upgrading your damage in Khazan's Memories right? A lot of people are forgetting that.

Yeah now they have a small prompt in the menu to steer you towards it but I had been using it. Hard to miss now.

I love this fight, probably my 3rd favourite in the game. Replayed it loads and probably beat him 20+ times now. I Know all his moves, what I can reflect, what I need dodge, brink guard timings, but he can still fuck you up with one little mistake, especially in his katana phase.

Skalpel is a bit of a bitch as well.

Made it to his actual second phase and I’m cooked by that point.

Not sure how I feel about the fight yet. Grew to love a lot of them so we’ll see.

Not too terrible once I learned how to stop his coffin riding in the first phase. Got him after a few attempts today.

Didn’t like the second phase much but the first was mostly a lot of fun.

If you survive for a little while in the second phase he eventually returns to his moveset from the first phase making him a lot more predictable. Personally I saved my transformation for the beginning of the second stage to avoid taking damage during his aggressive opening. He’s just too wild during that part

Yeah I noticed that which is really the only way I was able to knock down his health more. I had no more heals left so I was trying to keep my distance and spam Tearstone Shards if I got clipped. Worked out surprisingly well lol.
