Indie The First Berseker: Khazan

I won’t spoil anything but the boss of stage 3 is fucking insane. In any other game it would have been a mid to end game boss. I wasn’t expecting that level of challenge so early on. 2 hours so far and no victory yet. Getting close though. I’m not using the summon things in this playthrough. Going for that trophy that requires you to beat the game without them

I just got him this morning before work. Took me 2.5 to 3 hours in total. Really rough boss, looking like the first two levels were a tutorial and the real game starts at 3.

After watching the Fextra video, it has me a little more intrigued due to the advanced combat. I wasn't particularly impressed with the Demo as I though the level design was kind of boring. Go down a trail, find enemies, defeat, run to another trail and repeat until you hit the boss. It was too straightforward and simplistic. Also, like Val mentioned, I wasn't a fan of the over exaggerated dialogue. But to be fair, this keeps me away from most anime centric games.

But I do love the artwork and am a big fan of Parry combat. So we'll see. I'll probably read a few more reviews from the public.

I no longer relish difficulty porn. Might actually switch to easy mode since there's supposedly 80 hours to this and I don't feel like being walled playing DDR with bosses. I don't know where the genre is headed next but I hope it's away from parry crap. It's overdone at this point.

It’s 40 hours according to most people that beat it. Double that if you attempt to get the true ending. I’d stick with normal unless you don’t like the game. I beat Viper and I’m just an average player. What helped me is running away during his first stage when he does that crazy combo after you knocked down half his health. He telegraphs he’s going to do it by twirling his spear and planting it in the ground. When he does this run away and start throwing your projectiles. Does decent damage and to stamina as well. You can always respec as well. This game is super generous with resetting talents. I think it encourages it to help with boss fights. I been sticking with duel wield all game so far. Some say spear is strongest though

I switched to easy. I'm too old to fight bosses for hours. If the game is too easy I'll do another playthrough.
No shame in doing that. I didn’t beat the last boss in Elden ring dlc because if im being honest i think it sucked. It wasn’t fun having aoe drop around you the entire fight. I think what I’m loving about this game is even when I die I still get rewarded with lacrima. I’ve leveled like 10 times from wiping to viper over and over. I beat stage 4 last night and found that boss easier than Viper. Even the devs admitted that perhaps viper was too strong for early game and so they’re making some adjustments to have the first half progression be easier and keeping the last few bosses tough

They nerfed Radahn heavily if you wanna go beat it

Wasn't this dev giving interviews saying that games shouldn't be so hard?

Im addicted to this game. About 20 hours into it already (been doing some gaming on the portal too) and can safely say it’s my game of the year so far. Not sure how high on the list it will be by the end of the year but I like it over Monster Hunter Wilds. Still playing on normal and doing a no summon playthrough to get that trophy. On Maluca currently and hopefully have him down tonight. The last boss Rangkus had me raging at times. His flamethrower was absolutely melting me. Finally figured out to hug him and be aggressive during that stage and he gets stunned fairly easily. Best soulslike for me since Lies of P and and Nioh 2. When it comes to combat I give it the edge over lies of P but I was more intrigued with Lies of P lore and world. If I had to score it now I’d give it a 9 out of 10 which was the same score I gave Lies of P when I finished it. Brilliant game, boss fights have been incredible. Rangkus was the only one I didn’t completely love because of that annoying second stage.

I'm at Rangkus now. Easy feels like normal difficulty and normal feels like hard mode.

I can only imagine. This was me in the demo before levelling up...

Game is cheap dog shit. Even on easy. Blocks don't come out when they're supposed to. Enemies regen stamina even though you're beating the shit out of them. Cheap elemental damage added to boss fights just as a nuisance and to hamstring the player. This is literal garbage.

Beat Maluca finally. Hardest boss I’ve fought in a long time. Took four hours or so and been fighting him since Tuesday. Beat him Friday morning. His first stage is a joke but when he powers up it’s so incredibly difficult. He’s fast as fuck, has super long combos, hits hard, and can heal himself. I’m still playing on normal but I was so tempted to drop down because of him. I’m really hoping the next few are a bit easier. This boss demanded you to play perfectly. This game is harder than any Souls game I’ve played but gaining lacrima for losing and being able to fight any boss again at any time make it a little less frustrating. If this game made you do long corpse runs I would have uninstalled it lol

Through much tenacity I beat the crossbow bitch
Rangkus? I found getting close to him and circling around him helped a lot. Basically treat him like he has a giant shield and always go for his back. That mindset helped me get him
