The fans of Jones

My first post in the UFC section.

Congrats to DC! I´m a big fan of his style of fighting and his out of the cage sweet Teddy bear persona, make him a very likeable fighter to cheer on.

But, as always there is a big "But" from a large chunk of Die Hard Jones fans. Cormier will always be the guy who lost his fights against their God.

Here comes my problem with this stubborn thinking. Jones has something that DC doesn´t have. A very big cloud of questionmarks flying heavy on him. Ofcourse I´m thinking of doping.

There is another sport I love besides Boxing, Muay-Thai and MMA, and that is cycling. I have been on camping holidays in France a couple of times and been following Tour de France first hand. It is an insane event with insane athletes. The climbing stages are as it always have been, the de facto crucial part of the long race.

At the time when Lance Armstrong was ruling, he was one of my biggest sport idols. And coming back from testicle cancer and win the Tour? That was just amazing! But we all know what happened. He was busted and stripped of all his wins and the history he made is no more. And by so he made millions of fans very disappointed, and we all moved on to other cyclist to cheer on.

Jones is a known cheater and who knows how long he has been doing so without being caught. And here comes my problem with the fans protecting his legacy. How can you defend a fighter that you don´t know if he is clean or not? Is it okey to cheat? Do you like to cheat? Are you a dishonest person in real life?

Yes even in the USADA era, people passed tests and then failed them including Bones.

I'm perfectly fine with not giving the slightest shit he or anyone else failed drug tests - I don't care.

Is it okey to cheat? Do you like to cheat? Are you a dishonest person in real life?

Depends on how you cheat - eye pokes, groin shots are a no no for me. Drugs are fine, they should be allowed to use them.

I don't cheat by creed but I will cheat if I see an opportunity to game a system without harming an entity like a corporation or a person.

I'm a pretty straight shooter and very honest to the point of insulting people who ask for it.

How much of an advantage steroids gives you is an unquantifiable unknown though... Was it the factor that made Jones win? Or would he have won anyway without using?

Truth is, we don't know so everything is opinion. And as such, some will fight for one way, others the other way.

For me, he cheated and when he was on top played it safe by teasing us, but never stepping up to HW. I don't feel too sorry for Jones that many seem to have moved on from him.

The biggest problem i have with people who justify their favourite fighters who have been caught (Jones, Anderson etc.) is that they say that everyone is on steroids, USADA just hasn't caught them yet, and thus it is a playing field, and its okay for them to have cheated. This is utter ludacris reasoning just to make themselves feel better about supporting a fighter who is a known cheater. IMO, a fighter should obviously be given the benefit of doubt until he is actually caught, and once caught, they are out of any sort of GOAT discussions for me.

DC is yet to actually fight a "clean" Jones so its hard to tell but 1 of the "wins" Jones has over DC is deemed a NC under USADA due to multiple failed drug tests that include Steroids, Turinabol, Clomiphene & Letrozole which unfortunately makes all his MMA accomplishments null and void.

If USADA went after him like they did Lance Armstrong, his MMA record be 0-1-0 with 23 NC and considering how the CSAC hearing went, they most likely will

my problem is that too many bums are claiming that Jones could have pulled the same move simply bc he beat Dc. No. Jones has a whole different style and tools than DC. Mmath is lame as fuck, if you want to see how he does at hw he needs to jump a weight class and see how it goes.

Jon Jones did not beat DC twice because of any supplement he put in his body, he won twice because he is the best fighter EVER! No supplement or steroid helped Jones Kick DC in the head, his skill did that. If I have my facts straight, Jones did NOT test positive for steroids the day before their 2nd fight but only in the post fight test. That sounds very suspicious to me. ON or off steroids, I still think Jones is better than DC and always will be.

I want to not like people who use steroids, but the UFC keeps making it seem like its fine to do so. When we glofiy people like Brock and Cyborg, but yet were shitting on Jones? Just doesnt make any sense to me.
