it better not have the same leveling/scaling bullshit.
The quests and RPG mechanics are far superior to anything they've released since, including Fallout 3/4, Skyrim and Starfield.
'Modernization.'The further they got from Morrowind and Daggerfall, the dumber their RPG mechanics got.
I wouldn't get your hopes up too high with those marketing points. The gameplay is so simplistic its not like a smarter AI will do much differently.A coat of fresh paint and improved combat (I'm curious to what the Souls-like changes mean) will do wonders for this, especially with the insane Radiant AI.
Actually CRPGs has been my favorite genre over the past 5 years I never previously played, and XCom2, Wasteland3, and BG3 have been three of the best games I've played ever... so I'm now well-adjusted to turn-based combat.KOTOR 1 and especially 2 only need graphical overhauls (better animations/physics would be nice too), and they'll be as great as anything released recently, as they are still masterpieces, especially KOTOR 2 with the cut content fan patch. I know you're not a fan of the turn based combat, but I loved it. I don't trust any studio to make them into action games and still be able to match the depth the encounters/battles had.
You answered your own question and you even agreed the overall combat isn't great, lol.I can understand overall gameplay in a sense, but what games are you comparing it to? The overall combat was never great even when it released. You chose archer or mage, or had to deal with it's awful first person melee combat. That wasn't what made these games great. That was shit you put up with, in an otherwise great game. I don't think any game has really improved upon those particular shortcomings though. Just look at "Avowed". Came out a few months ago. It's combat is...serviceable. I don't think anyone is playing these games for their tight combat. It's the world and freedom and stories within it, that kept people playing.
I think you have to compare Oblivion to games of it's type. To which, there's not much like it, other than Bethesda games with the same blueprint. Like, I think "The Witcher 3" is a better game, but I wouldn't really compare the two.

Facts!KOTOR 2 with the cut content fan patch
Lol, Morrowind def took no prisoners. I can understand why some people would have the same reaction. I did too when I first played it on Xbox. That's pretty pathetic by Bethesda at this point.
It's a popular opinion they didn't even develop the best Fallout game, while Bethesda owned it.
So many other developers have taken the ball Bethesda dropped and ran with it, yet Bethesda still has a big name based off of games released over 10 years ago they keep re-releasing.
'Modernization.'
That said, count me as one of those who first played Morrowind for 20 minutes, had no idea what to do, got killed by a crab, and never bothered to play it again.

And making it 'souls-like?' Seriously?

But KOTOR1&2's gameplay didn't develop well beyond pressing...

That said, I only played on it's normal difficulty with no temptation to play on hard.

@GtehMVP
Saw this and it reminds me of the excellent Gears Of War Tactics game.
Final 20 seconds shows a bit of gameplay.
There are some really good combat enhancing mods, namely a stronger focus on parrying. I don't know exactly which combat mod is in the Return to Sovngarde collection I'm using, but you need to time your blocks to be effective, making melee battles far more fun/challenging. I can see them adopting that pretty easily.I started with Skyrim for my ES experience so I’d definitely be interested in a remake of Oblivion. Not interested unless they update the mechanics.
Do you really mean Boomer in your quote?Boomer gamers are going to buy this remake/remaster expecting to relive the greatness of the first time they played it as kids or young adults.... but chances are its going to remind them how much gaming has improved over the last 19 years.
Didn't you know?Do you really mean Boomer in your quote?
I'm getting pretty confused with the general generational labels slapped onto people in the gaming stratosphere.
Is a Boomer an old person or someone who played Oblivion upon release?
Imo there is a difference.
I dont think @GearSolidMetal is implying that but I am curious where his line is.Didn't you know?
According to 20 somethings anyone 30 or over is a boomer.
