The Diaz Delusion

Nick doesn't consider it a loss when a guy runs from him the whole fight or he can stand in a ninja stance with his back to a guy and they still won't engage

I can see why

It's stupid because Diaz himself has tested positive for PEDs on multiple occasions but accused GSP who has always been clean. He's an overrated hypocrite
Lol. I literally laughed out loud, that isn't an expression. What decade were you frozen in?

I'm glad I could do that for you, but PEDs are no joke. If you scroll down, I provide a source that contains three reasons why marijuana is (justly) classified as a PED. I'll paste it again for your convenience:

Cannabis is considered to be in violation of all three main disqualifying criteria. It violates the first (performance enhancement) because of its ability to decrease anxiety and fear, and potentially to improve some types of oxygenation and concentration. It violates the second (health risk) because it can result in, among other things, "decreased cognitive performance" and "pulmonary toxicity." It violates the third (spirit of sport) because of the drug's widespread illegality and conflicts with the "role model of athletes in modern society," along with "negative reactions by the public, sponsors, and the media."

He could...?
I base that on Diaz's level of competition, which is arguably the best any fighter has ever had.

He fought Frank Shamrock, BJ Penn, Georges St-Pierre, and Anderson Silva (beating the former two)—all of whom reached GOAT status at one point or another.

don't forget about prime Gomi, too

and pulling the first gogo in a major mma event, against the consensus #1 LW in the world, on Gomi's own turf (pride/ring)

oh and the ONLY guy in history to ever KO our current WW champ

reading this thread makes me think I am on teh pots...

His fans are just as delusional as he is if not more so. The guy has been selling wolf tickets this whole time and his sheep fans keep buying them up.
Selling wolf tickets is when you don't back up what you say. No matter what you think of Diaz, you can't argue that he wasn't willing to back it up. He's the only guy to have fought BJ, GSP AND Anderson. At his own request.

Did GSP beat him up? No. Did Anderson Silva beat him up? No. Show me a fight where Diaz got the fuck beat out of him like the beating he put on BJ Penn.

NONE.

Even at his peak and very best he wasn't ever a 2 WW in the world.

Who cares. He's banned for 5 years and has 4 more years to go. He's finished unless he gets released and fights for Rizin in Japan.

What's his best win and in what year was it?

I think a lot of fighters believe they're the best. I may be wrong but I don't think Nick was saying his record reflects that he's the best, but rather that he wants to prove he is.

I've heard a few pros say you need that self-belief to compete at high levels in MMA.

He says he's the best FIGHTER in the world because he knows no one will stand to toe toe with him and no one will submit him. He's not going out there to gamplan or dance around he's coming to fight. He made Anderson and condit both respect that and has a KO win over the current champ. Anderson was a weight class higher and considered a goat yet nick layed down mid match and Andy knew better than to follow him. People only want to decision nick and there's a reason for that.

That's the thing about Diaz. He makes these honest comments that often sound dumb on the surface but suggest an intelligent opinion and deep level of understanding underneath.

Here he is intentionally bringing up the duality that the idea of making any money, let alone the huge sums he has received, from fighting of all things is more lucky and incredible than he could have ever imagined. However, over the years he has come to realize that the act itself of fighting is so dangerous and degrading and requires such sacrifice from its participants that even this entirely unexpected level of success is not worth what he has to put himself through in order to keep doing it in a full time capacity.

You just don't get that kind of meaningful introspection from most fighters, but unfortunately it gets lost under his inability to express himself.

How fortunate, then, that we have the Oracles of Diaz to interpret his incoherent ramblings for us. I didn't go to school to understand that.

And everyone at Cesar Gracie is a PED user except for the Diaz brothers apparently, including all the fighters who are their close friends. Something seems off about that.

Funny how vocal Diaz is about PED's but has said zilch about his close buddies getting busted for PED's

He quit competing every time he had to face wrestlers. Nick claims to be the best fighter but never fought his way through the rankings the way every great fighter does. Nick Diaz was never willing to back up his claim. He fights hand picked opponents and even then loses against the best of them.

Wolf tickets, son. Wolf tickets.

It's insane for any person to possibly think that marijuana enhances performance; it's the same bullshit when people were calling cocaine a performance enhancing drug after the Jones thing, which it absolutely isn't. That oxygenation crap is pure lunacy. Decreasing anxiety and fear doesn't definitively enhance performance, and in fact I'd reckon that someone without anxiety and fear in the cage would get knocked out due to overconfidence; hell, eating properly can decrease anxiety. Also, marijuana can actually instill anxiety in many people, and a regular user who isn't using it during the actual fight would probably have increased anxiety had they not smoked that day. The effects of weed are too varied to determine any of that for a fact. I could see it being banned for things like decreased cognitive performance and the toxicity thing, because those are legitimate concerns, and they want fighters to fight at their best, but calling it a PED is insanity and everybody knows they're talking out of their asses.
